2 SUV's

Which SUV do you like better...The Landrover Freelander or The BMW X3??
The Freelander is like 29,500 with some nice features and the X3 is like 34,500 with a few features....so what do you think?????

My opinion and a fellow Land Rover owner. I think the new Freelanders are a bit lacking in alot of areas. I would stick with the X3 or go for the X5. ( a couple years old)

good thing you said a couple years old....because Car&Driver did a show on the X3 and the guy hated the thing, anything he could say bad he said...I was laughing, mostly because I don't like the new Beamers

if you have any plans of ever leaving the road don't go with the x3 but if you want a fun car it is real good make sure to test drive because a lot of people say the x3 is too stiff

There are a lot of SUV's out there that can't go offroad if you tried you would get stuck right off the start! The car manufactures make the the SUV's for everyday driving and thats there first mistake!

So true, have you seen how low some of these SUV's are? They are just supped up station wagons. There are some SUV's that can off road. Landrover and some Toyotas come to mind but I'm sure there are afew more.

Go with fuzyfuzer's advice.

If you can spend 34K and off-road'ing is important to you. (not sure why anyone would want to take a 40K vehicle off road but) get a used Disco II by Land Rover. One hell of a machine. (talking from experience)

I drove the X3 about a week ago...run, run like the wind. Numb steering, f'ed up transmission, especially the clutch which has no feel and a really weird point of uptake( i tried consistently for about an hour, but could not get a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd...). The best thing about it was the seat and general build-quality which was as you expect in a Beamer. Also, I think it looks like the gay littlebrother of the X5...skinnier, more feminine, and less grunt. I'd get a used X5 if you really wanna go with BMW. But if you want to offroad, a used Disco like iamtheone mentioned.

You can pick up a used Discovery for incredibly cheap. These things depreciate like mad, but are still fun.

They do much better in recent years, but yes, they are quite bad for that.
