LED Replacement bulbs
hey guys, just did a quick search of the boards to check if there were any topics about this, and there werent so heeereee goes.
many of the new high end cars (infinity cadillac etc) are equipped with LED marker/tail lights. im sure youve seen them on the road along with most new traffic lights being LED clusters. leds are brighter, last longer, use less energy, are instantly responsive, and well they just look god damn cool. (g35 tail lights *drool*) so im thinking this is gonna be my next mod for my 99 audi a4. the only thing that concerns me is that ive read a few things about LEDs not having a wide enough viewing angle to light up the reflectors inside the tail light housing. heres a couple of sites that i found that offer replacement leds. has anyone had any experience with LED replacement lights? http://www.ledtronics.com/ http://www.jamstrait.com/ |

Doesnt really address the issue of viewing angle, but will give you an idea of what's invloved. I'm a member of this forum, and Droo, the guy responsible for this mod is a really nice guy. So you could probably ask him if you want more info.

I've installed lots of LED lights on heavy equipement (trailers, highway tractors) They work really well but are quite expensive. However all of those replaced the current seal beam with a new base and difuser. I've considered making up new housings and inserting the complete unit under a clear cover. Usually there is a bit of a packaging problem though. Grote is another source http://www.grote.com/prodcat/C.html
