Classic Car Help!!!
 

Alright fellas
I am trying to decide on a good 'ol Clasic Car, but can't quite make up my mind. Here are my two main choices:

1) 1970 Chevelle SS
2) 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Give pros and cons of both!
I know I can depend on you for some help!

Two good choices, but I prefer the '69 Camaro. I just always liked the old Camaros better cause it's sportier, shorter, and a little lighter. And except for price, it's easy to cram a nice new GMPP502 crate motor into either one ;)

I love the looks of the Chevelle, but I'd prolly take the Camaro. Those '69s were beautiful things.

But hey, why not buy a beautiful Mustang instead! :)

Trust me on this...A 1st generation Camaro is a good investment. These cars are increasing in value like crazy. My '67 is worth 3x more than what I paid for it(mid $40's). Both are good vehicles, but I am just a little biased. *looks at username*

I'm partial to the Chevelle, but either one would make a good investment and fun car to own.

But please, whatever yo do, drive it. That's where the fun is. It is a shame to see one in a warehouse, covered up and never driven.

Do lot's of research too. Go to some car shows if you can. If you are buying for an investment, you must do lot's of research to know what you are buying.

Oh yeah, and if you really want a classic get either of these as convertibles.

Is this a serious question? You are seriously going to buy one of the above?

Both of these cars are really expensive.

The camaro might handle *slightly* better, but the chevelle SS most likely has more power. ( of course none of these cars are stock, your experience may vary... )

I'd go with the camaro, but thats just going off of looks.

I really appreciate the info. Keep it comin'. About the mustang, I'm a chevrolet man. Yes I am seriously going to buy one of the two above. I am very fond of both of these cars but I cant quite make my mind up (Thats what you are for)!! Thanks Again!

tfpfreak, exactly why are you getting this car? Investment? Driver? Show car? Garage queen?

Then you can go wrong with neither car. Find whichever one looks best to you. They both are beastly powerful, and both look great.

Make sure whichever one you buy seems reliable... and make sure it has a title. These should be self-evident, but sometimes your brain doesn't work right around a hot car ( or female.. :) )

Brake and chassis parts might be more readily available for the Chevelle. Outside of that, the Camaro would probably be a better investment.

Looks like you are too far away to bring it to our car show in August. Too bad.

tec-9-7, I plan to do all of the above. Something that can be daily driven but also for the little punk kids that think they are the best just to smoke them like noone ever has! I do plan to show it, when I don't know. Definately take real good care of it but I think it is rediculous to pay so much money for a car and keep it under a cover on jackstands! Just my opinion!

In that case, I'd say it really doesn't matter - pick which ever car you can find in better condition and for a better price. You really don't want a 35 year old car for a daily driver, so I suspect you will do a good bit of updating as far as drive train, suspension, interior and wiring - I'd look for a really clean example that is of a lower trim-line - i.e. not a Z-28 nor an SS454, and update the engine/transmission to a modern standard (LS-1 w/ an modern auto or a 6-speed if you feel real froggy). I lived w/ a classic muscle car as a daily driver for a few years, and while driving around in a 68 GTO was cool, it got to be a real pain in the ass after a while.

I'd go with the Chevelle on looks.

1967 Mustang Coupe, baby blue, white top.

I would need a few more details to make a decision. Itf the Camaro is the base model, I'd say you'd should pick the Chevelle SS. Which engine is in the Camaro, which has the most stock parts, etc?

I would say a 1969 ss/rs camaro, it has a 396, the same motor as the chevelle and is a bit lighter.

plus you can buy a ton upgrades, all suspension in molygraphite, to a 4 wheel disc brake system.

Edelbrock even make a fuel injection system for this motor
, complete with computer.

Check the classifieds on these sites. There are lots of good members on these sites and lots of good information.
