Auto DoorLock Repairs

Recently inherited a 95 Buick Lesabre due to a death in the family... thing runs like a dream, except I can't seem to get the auto door locks to UNLOCK. I can get them to lock without a problem, just not the reverse.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be the problem, and if its possible for me to fix it myself? Kinda sucks to have a 4 door with a family, and no way to unlock without reaching to the back seat...

Thnx in advance!

Do the power locks work both ways? I'm not real clear on what you're asking. If the AutoLocks don't work in the unlock, that may be normal. Some of the GM's in the mid 90's would auto-lock, but the didn't even have an auto-unlock function.

I guess I should have said power door locks rather than auto door locks (sorry about that confusion)... Basically, I can lock all I want, but if I hit unlock, nothing... no click... not even trying... so its not that its stuck (as I've had in previous cars)... it just does nothing.

Does it do this from multiple locations, i.e from the drivers and passenger side switches? If its just one side, there's likely a contact in the switch thats faulty.

Mine in my caddy have a bad problem of sticking....I can unlock them but sometimes they won't go back up...the way to fix it is to pulls off the door panels and grease every part of the locking mechanisms...then they should work beautiful

No... both the drivers and passengers side are refusing to work... as well as with the remote. No problem locking, but just doesn't want to lock.

those actuators are known for failing. make sure they are receiving an unlock signal att he connector, but most likely they have failed.
