Whats this car worth?

I have a 96 saturn sl2, 4 dr, 5 spd that doesnt exactly run. Most likely a hole in a piston, but I dont have the time or place to disect it. New fuel pump and new exhaust. Bodys good, tho one fender needs paint (they are plastic, so its not like a lot of body work)

What do you spose I could get for it?

I posted it on wantaddigest, for 500 or BO...

Any thoughts?

Call some junk yards in your area and see what they'll give you. I've found that, typically, you could expect to get about double or triple what they offer you if you find the right buyer who needs what you're selling. The problem is it takes a lot of luck to find someone that needs or wants a car that needs work to get back on the road. Moreso if the car isn't particularly interesting 9e.g., big engine, classic, unique, etc).

Well, since the car isn't working anyway, I'd pull the fuel pump and put it on ebay. It being missing from it won't decrease what you get for it by much. Of course, if you're feeling energetic, I'd strip it down and part it out. Sell what's left to the junk yard and you're good to go.

I hear that. I used to love working on things. Now, as I've gotten older, the grease under your nails desire has mellowed. I've still got an air compressor that I just can't bring myself to tear down again.

Hmm I would take the blue book value...then subtract that for the price for a mechanic to fix it or the price of a remanufactured engine which is $2962.50 from jaspers website. And sell it as that...but now looking at the blue book which is about $2000 tops.....it's probably not worth a whole ton of money fixing....parting it out on ebay might be the way to go....

Consumer Rated Condition: Poor
"Poor" condition means that the vehicle has severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and may be in questionable running condition. The vehicle may have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body. A vehicle with a branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage should be considered “poor” because of potential problems and should be independently appraised to determine its value.

Trade-In Value (no value)
Trade-in value represents what you might expect to receive from a dealer for this consumer owned vehicle. Keep in mind that the dealer must then absorb the cost of making the vehicle ready for sale, advertising, sales commissions, arranging financing and insurance and standing behind the vehicle for any mechanical or safety problems.

I could get an engine for around 600 bucks, not factory remanufactured or anything, but still. Swap it and it might net me sum bucks.

I can do the swap myself. And then I could probably , from what I see else where, get near 2000 for the car. Which makes it worth it to some degree, but I have so much stuff going on in my life, Im not sure Id like to deal with it.

As my friend is so fond of saying, theres and ass for every seat, you just have to find the right ass...

Now wheres the shmuck who wants to throw me 3,4, or 500 bucks?
