3.3L 6 Spd in an Avenger?

My friend who owns an avenger heard of such a car being built or at least the 3.3 motor swaped into an avenger with a 6 spd manual tranny...

Every hear of such a thing?

silent_jay 04-28-2004 07:53 PM

Nope

krwlz 04-28-2004 07:57 PM

Me either, this guy swears he helped swap one into an intrepid, and then watched it blow away a mustang GT.... but, I just dont know.

silent_jay 04-28-2004 08:20 PM

It just doesn't sound right to me.

Kurant 04-28-2004 08:57 PM

Suuuurre...

EDIT: Sorry, made me laugh when I re-read the thread.

First of all the 3.3 is too tall to fit under the hood of a Avenger. Second of all Chrysler doesn't make a 6 speed.

Maybe a 3.5 mitsu with a 6 speed perhaps?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

The 3.3 was the base engine in the Intrepid. I've driven them, it'd take a lot more than a 6-speed to beat a Mustang GT. As in, strapping on a few booster rockets, perhaps.

The 3.5L Mitsu is a Dodge motor, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe it's a Mitsu motor that Dodge also uses, but I think the first one is right.

The only 6 speed Mitsubishi makes is in the Evo I think.

krwlz 04-29-2004 05:50 AM

THere is a mitsubishi engine in it now, but... I was kinda doubtful about that 3.3 as well hence why I posted it.

Hes calling some people today, maybe he can iron out what the guy was really talking about, or maybe the dude was just blowing sunshine up his ass.

Time will tell.

Kurant 04-29-2004 08:47 AM

I think the 3.5 is a Dodge motor. Obviously, in a mitsubishi car it won't say Dodge on it. But they share many platforms. The Eclipse and the Stratus R/T share the same almost everything except exterior. Same motor, same interior, same everything.

Even a 3.5 is pretty gutless.

I almost wonder if somebody got ambitious, and swapped in a 3000GT VR-4 motor. That would be fun. And didn't those have 6-speeds?

Kurant 04-29-2004 04:41 PM

Yeah, they did have 6-speeds.

But they were only 3.0L. And it was a Mitsubishi Motor.

krwlz 04-30-2004 05:48 AM

come to find out the dude was indeed just blowing smoke up my friends ass. According to his manager, this guy is "touched" and if he wasnt such a hard worker, he would have been fired a long time ago. The guy can handle almost any task you throw at him, as long as he doesnt have to think.

silent_jay 04-30-2004 07:05 AM

ahhh one of those guys ,"touched" is a good way to put it.

man my moms 91 Plymouth Mini-van has a 3.3 in it...LOL!

Krycheck 05-01-2004 06:22 PM

I think there's two 3.5.

The LH cars had a 3.5 made by Chrysler. The new Stratus sedans I belive had a 3.5 made by Mitsu if im not mistaken.

irseg 05-01-2004 07:05 PM

Yes, there is a Mitsu and Chrysler 3.5, they aren't related to one another. Both engines are used in Chrysler vehicles (Mitsubishi only uses their own in their cars).

The Chrysler version makes around 250 hp, Mitsubishi's is a little over 200. It's pretty fucking bad when a car company's engineering skills are shamed by Chrysler.
