Ferrari 360 turns into Ferrari 430

Evolving 360: Ferrari testing heavily reworked version of 360 Modena By GREG KABLE Ferrari is road testing a heavily reworked version of the 360 Modena, dubbed the 430 Modena. Likely to appear for the first time at next year’s Geneva motor show, the two-seater will forego the 3.6-liter V8 used in the existing car for an engine derived from the 4.2-liter V8 used in the Maserati Coupe/Spyder and Quattroporte. AutoWeek sources say the new powerplant’s capacity of about 4.3 liters will produce 480 hp, up from the 360’s 400 hp, and much closer to the 500-hp 5.0-liter V10 in competitor Lamborghini’s Gallardo. Changes to the Maserati engine include a flat crank, lighter internals and a revised air inlet manifold—all aimed at allowing it to rev close to 9000 rpm. http://www.autoweek.com/weekart/2004...9n-ferrari.jpg
LINK |
that's pretty f'n sweet, 9000 rpms.....vrooooooooooom
Maaan that sounds like fun.
WOW, a 360 Spyder went past me today and it sounded great, hate to think how good this one will sound at 9000rpm! :)
I'll take one....
Hell, I'll take two!
4.3 liters and 9k rpm? jesus. gotta be a huge bore and crazy-short stroke. It will be nice to give that 360 some supercar-like punch, though.
Maserati's 4.2 was derived from the Ferrari 3.6. I don't see any advantage for Ferrari in trying further to confuse people with this marketing nonesense - as if Maserati have anything of their own to bring to the table...
