quick headlight question
Real quick question.. what is this silver looking dome thing in my new car's headlight for? It doesnt seem to light up for the drl or hi-beams. Maybe it has some reflection purpose? Thanks for any help.

what kinda car is that?
that might help! |
Pretty sure it's a VW. In that case it's probably for city lights in Europe market cars. I forget how they differ, but they're similar to our parking lights. Either that, or just a cosmetic thing to make the headlights look cooler.
A friend of mine has a VW GTI. In Europe it has a rear fog light (just makes the left taillight extra bright). It's not an option in the USA, but his was prewired for it. He just plugged in the factory switch and it worked right away. |
Looks like a VW Bora - Jetta in the US?
What you are talking about looks to me like the sidelight for European cars which are used at dusk to make cars be seen but don't necessarily need to light the road. I presume like the orange lights on the side of US cars that we don't have in the UK. |

rear fog lights are not standard installed on USA cars ? here in europe it's required if i'm not mistaken... most cars nowdays even have front fog lights... strange |
sorry i didn't ID the car.. it's a 2004 VW jetta.. i did some research and found out that the "silver thing" is where the fog lights are supposed to be installed.. guess mine didn't have them standard. thanks for the help
