Saw Ford GT today. The car looks pretty sweet in person. Also saw, and could hardly believe it, a Porsche Carrera GT driving past me. Pretty spiffy car to see in the suburbs.

I think they were priced around $175,000 but that doesn't include any dealer incentive discounts
I saw one drive by our local playground this past summer, the loudness (as in good sounds, not noise )caught my attention and then I couldn't believe I was looking at one! But I've heard some negative vibes about them ...not sure on the details though. Anybody know anything more ...good or bad? |

I saw one of these just the other day:
Beautiful car, driven by the CEO of the company I work for. I think he should sell it and give us all raises.

I've seen almost all of the cars mentioned including about 40 Deloreans in one parking lot...DMC convention at the hotel I was staying at.
But the rarest are these 2 1964 Ferrari GTO- 36 made and worth in the 10 digit range. I parked beside it in my buddies P.O.S. Mustang at the 97 Montreal Grand Prix 1967 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C- 31 were made and it was selling for 4 MILLION Cdn! when I sat in it when I was 17. I dunno how much that is now but 13 years ago I was impressed. So can anyone beat that? I don't think so.

A GTO in the ten digit range? Blimey! Let's see; $10,000,000 - ten million dollars. Eight digits, and not far off the world record GTO price. Ten digits makes for a car worth well over one billion dollars. In addition to which, the fact that you were able to pull up next to one means it was almost certainly a fake - re-bodied 250 GTE or glassfibre datsun-based lash-up, it matters not a jot. Can anyone beat that? Almost certainly. However, if you really saw a real GTO, and a real Shelby - so many replicas - then you win the thread. Bravo! Last edited by castex; 10-25-2005 at 10:31 AM.. |

I have no clue as to the authenticity of the GTO but the company it kept in the parking lot said much about its heritage...numerous Ferrari's, a Miura and a XJ220 were all present.
I am certain the Cobra was real as it was at a reputable exotic dealer.

Powerclown - That GT is BADASS! Damn I want to drive one of those.
I haven't seen anything fantastic in awhile unfortunately. As far as rare though, does rarity count as frequency of sightings? If so, my dad and I have had several rarities over the years. He's always liked unusual cars. Jags, Rolls, MG, Opel, etc. Probably common fair in Bristol or something, but when you grow up in a small town in KY, they suren't common. When I was in high school we had a 1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Definitely stood out in town. Now he has a pristine 89 Jaguar XJS hardtop. My first car (in 1992) was a 1970 Opel GT (looks like a little tiny foreign made corvette or something). Probably the most unusual vehicle we had though was a mid 70's model International Pickup Truck. I've never seen another one since anywhere. Of course, the most rare privately owned vehicle I've seen was a friend of my dad's who owned a Half-Track military vehicle. Sure don't see those every day. Back to the exotic though... I did see a sweet Ferrari a few months back just cruise by me in traffic in downtown Memphis and I was just like, "wha, who, holy, sweet jesus that's awesome" and I had no idea what the model was. I just stared at it dumbly while my consultant rep was driving me to lunch. She just laughed at me like I was a silly little boy. Oh well. At least some women get it .

A neighbor used to own THE white Ford T-Bird from the movie American Grafitti. Kept it in his garage under a sheet. It always won awards at the local car shows.
Don't know why, but I tend to gravitate towards the oldies. Saw a Chrysler 300G a month ago, decided I want a convertable 300-letter car of my own some day. |

i see a Lamborghini Murcielago every once in a while. On the way to the train station I pass by a CL63 AMG, and if I get lucky, I see a Nissan Skyline GT-R on Tuesdays. There is a local car show about 2 miles north of me, so thats where the GT-R is going. Remember, I'm in the USA, the Skyline GT-R was never sold here.

I guess this question is sort of the opposite of what this thread is about:
I don't recall seeing it mentioned in this thread, and I just used "search this thread" above with no hits, so I'll say it: Though they are extremely rare, I'm surprised no one has seen a McLaren F1 yet on the street. my bad, not paying attention. I was just going thru this thread again and in fact, the McLaren F1 was already sited in earlier posts. Last edited by BadNick; 07-06-2007 at 06:20 PM.. |
