Cars In Barns
|
Yeah its very depressing. Reminds me when I went out to a guys house and offered him money for a GTO convertible he had sitting in his yard....was a nice car and he just let it rot away.

Interesting site. I had an interesting experience a couple of months back when I went to buy a snowplow from a friend of a friend.
Pull up to his building (a commercial trucking place) to find a good 2 or 3 acres of cars scattered about. Some in an obvious state of rotting away and others in good shape. We get talking a little about cars and he mentions that he's got a few "inside". Head into the first building and it's jam packed (not an inch of space left unfilled) with everything from old military trucks to muscle cars (mostly muscle cars). He's a big Dodge fan and there were Hemis everywhere you looked. Moved on to the second building where he had Vettes, Camaros, a couple of Roadrunners, and a Trans Am or two. Every one of those inside was pristine. |
I can't imagine letting a superbird just sit. Man, I'd drive the wheels off the thing.

The funniest comment this guy made was "Whenever I get $30 or $40k sitting around I go out and buy a car or two." Personally I can think of a few other things I'd like to do with a "spare" $30 or $40k but hey that's just me. |
That made me almost cry
j/k some people should be shot for letting cars like that fall apart! |
ahh, these are just projects waiting their turn to become beautiful.....all in good time.
|
man... thats sad... all those cars with all that potential....
one day i want to buy a project and fix it up... maybe with my son if i have one... |
Boy that is a shame. I hate to see stuff like that. I just acquired a AMC like my avitar from a junk yard/ shop. The car was driven to the shop about 8 to 10 years ago and parked outside, it had all sorts of mold and barnacle looking things all over it. I took the car when the shop owner got evicted

Why oh why cant they send one my way!?

It is a shame to see these cars wasted like that. Always wanted a good old musle car from the 60's / 70's.
|
They should have a adoption program!

I would love to get my hands on a 71ish Challenger RT :( I'd trade the pony in an instant, lol.

I agree with the consensus here, to an extent. It does get a little boring when people start talking about reponsibilities as an owner, however.
I frequent a well-known classic car site from time to time. It's a reasonable site, but there are always people gagging to lecture you on how a rare and valuable car should or should not be kept. You know, start it every weekend over winter, let it warm up properly, don't drive it in the wet...My arse, frankly. It's one thing being a protector of a part of humanity's heritage; it's another thing entirely when people tell you how your property should be treated. I don't own the car, I'm just looking after it for future generations, as the rather tiresome saying goes... |
I love the Cars in Barns site. While I don't think they update much if at all, I still like going to it and dreaming about what I would do if I had the opportunity to get my meat grabbers on an old Baracuda or Charger.

He missed mine somehow:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g/P1012508.jpg We've had people stop to inquire about it and depending on my mood I either say it's for sale or say no, not at the moment. I still have fantasies about turning into my own 'Cadzilla', but it's a rustbucket....if anyone wants to nominate it for "Overhaulin", I wouldn't mind..... |
