I finally bought a (not quite) new car!
I've been yakking about buying a decent car for a couple years but did nothing. Well, the old Dodge finally died last week (and I mean donated it to Goodwill "died") so the decision was made for me to do it rather soon.
Anyway, came home just this afternoon with this one. I do believe I'm going to like it. Any other SLK owners here? Please do share your experiences. |

beautiful looking car!!! very nice choice in deed. i love the way the hard top retracts. I saw a guy at the mall put up the retractible roof and i just stared in awe..
the new SLK is coming out i believe. It looks really slick - very similar to the SLR. If you waited a little bit more i'm sure you could have picked up the newer model. But good choice regardless. |

Ahh German engineering. Looked at those should be a pretty good car. I really like the retractable hardtop.

glad to see ya bodypainter... and that is one sweet sweet car. Good thing you got the last generation SLK because MB is pumping out some damn shitty cars with their new generation.

Thanks everyone. 48 hours later I'm lovin' it.
Probably not many care besides me, but I put several more pictures up (and with much higher resolution) on one of our sites. http://www.techquarium.com/gallery/slk-01 |

I've never been a Mercedes fan either but something about this one, especially seeing the top go down, just grabbed me. I'd been looking at convertibles anyway and this made sense. It's certainly quieter when it's up than a ragtop would be and more secure as well. It's been over a week now. I already wish it had a few more horsepower. Maybe someday I'll chip it and put a different pulley on the supercharger. Word is I can gain 20 to 30 HP for a reasonable price without taking significant life on the engine. 17" wheels/tires might be in my future too (has 16" stock). This car must rate though because I did something special for it. I've lived in this house 6 years and have never had a car in my garage due to lots of junk and my motorcycle being in there. Well, now all the junk is in the shed, the motorcycle is in the driveway, and the car has a dry home. woot! |
