Yeah yeah yeah. My boy is gonna be pissed at me but so what. Its basically like this...Jettas are good cars. Anyone who knows even a little about cars can tell you that. But (and this it the 'BUT" that usually sways people) a Honda Civic will last you a lot longer with far less maintenance. Jettas have far more recurring problems as noted by the previous posts in comparison to a japanese made car that will keep on pushing and pushing until the engine goes out. If you want a more economical vehicle that does have good stock power and can be upgraded easier than go with the Civic. If you really, really want the jetta then go for it. My boy that that is gonna get mad at me has one and it is by far the illest jetta i've ever seen.

If I were buying used it would be a Honda because they are so easy to work on.
If I was buying new, I'd test em both and then pick the nicest one.
