Kimi is from Finland, and I had the pleasure of meeting him at the last Montreal Grand Prix. Imagine walking down St. Catherines Street with a bunch of buddies when suddenly a woman announces that Kimi will be signing autographs at this location in about 30 mins. Ya, we all decided we'd stick around.
I've been to the Montreal GP twice now, once as a guest of HSBC Jaguar and once just as a fan in the grand stands. I gotta tell ya, there's nothing like seeing and hearing those cars at full throttle down the main straight. I've got a ton of pictures, if you'd like to see a few let me know and I'll find somewhere to host them. If you ever get a chance to see an F1 race, take it. Trust me! Oh ya, I'm a Williams and McLaren fan. Favourite drivers would have to be Kimi and Jacques. I truly hope Jacque's days aren't over as I think in a proper car he'd be right up at the front with the best of them. SLM3 |

Alright, I'm in on this one. Big F1 and ChampCar fan. CART is no longer, actually will cease operation on Feb. 12. Being purchased by Gerry Forsythe, Kevin Kalkhoven and Paul Gentilozzi, they have formed Open Wheel Racing Series, Inc. That will be the new sanctioning body. Also includes Formula Atlantics and TransAm. OWRS is trying to bring it back from the dead. Have also brought in MotorRock which will include amongst other things concerts at the tracks in conjuction with the races. This could be potentially big. I hope it works. I love road racing.
First F1 race I went to was the Long Beach Grand Prix in 1977, won by Mario Andretti (I'm an old fart). Have been to every USGP in Indy. Will be there this June. Can't wait. Will attend as many Champ Car races as I can. Probably Road America and Milwaukee. Maybe Cleveland and for sure will attend the rumored Las Vegas race, supposedly to be held in Nov. And if the rumors are true there will be an U2 concert along with this race. That's almost too good to be true. You can join in racing discussions at www.offcamber.net www.crapwagon.com and www.7thgear.com However all three are decidedly anti-IRL. As am I. |

I love the WRC, such insane speeds over gravel and snow
It boggles the mind sometimes, especially when they show the interior of the cars as theyre running thru the course. The velocity they move around the gravel and snow and tarmac in unbelieveable

I sometimes enjoy F1 (last year was awesome til they changed the tire rule toward the end) - but hate Ferrari/MS. I pull for Honda/JB (I wasn't sad to see JV depart - I didn't think he'd shown much esp. as compared to his teammates), but realistically for winning, I go for JPM and DC for overall class.

I wish I lived in Europe almost solely for the ability to see so many more F1, WRC, and Moto GP. Gah, i just love the stuff. NASCAR to me seems so inferior to the skill, talent, and overall teamwork needed in the other events.
Here's to dreaming of more events like these in the US.

been an F1 fan since I was a little tyke. That and WRC are the only motorsports I bother watching, frankly. Nascar is pretty pathetic.
F1: Mclaren. Lifelong fan. When they hooked up with Mercedes, I initially had my doubts, but I think its a magical partnership. And I'm licking my chops for next season when Montoya joins the team...

F1 front tyre has an limit that it should NOT be wider than 280mm at all time. michelins did get wider 280+mm when they were used and acording to the rule that cant be right or? so what FIA had to do was to start cheking the tyrewidth after the qual/race to ensure the tyre is max 280mm or is it fair to win the WDC/WCC on ilegal tyres? and do you really hate Ferrari/Schumacher? and why hate a person you never had meet, (at least i think so) and isnt HATE a strong word, but maybe you just have to much anger in you that u release on Ferrari/Schumacher , i feel sorry for you

Been watching F1 since '86. Been to Detroit GP 2x, Montreal GP 2x. In '92, when Mansell tried to pass Senna at the first corner chicane leading onto the start/finish line, they touched, Mansell spun and was out. After the race I found a huge piece of broken front-end diffuser from Mansell's car, with a Labatts logo on it. No, I didn't go look for Mansell to sign it, he probably would have smacked me with it.
Something funny I remember at that Montreal race was at the start when the cars were sitting on the grid with the flag-girls next to the cars, a young MS drives slowly up through the middle of the grid, revving his Benetton engine LOUD the whole way up (he was somewhere at the front of the grid of course), visibly scaring the shit out of every sign-girl and other people standing around the cars. |

Huge ALMS fan. (American LeMans Series). Been going to the 12 Hours of Sebring with a group of guys since 1976. (Yeah, I know that is before most of you were born!).
Tremendous history. This year is the 52nd Annual. Winners list is a who's who of racing. Peter Revson, AJ Foyt, Sterling Moss, Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney, Juan Fangio. They race these kind of cars as well as factory Porsches, Ferrari's, Corvettes, Audi's, Saleen Mustangs, Vipers and prototypes It's four full days or racing and debauchery.
