So who 4wd's?
Thought I'd start a thread on who on this board 4wd's. I have a 89 Range Rover which has been heavily modified running front and rear difflocks and 35" Simex Centipedes. Currently putting a 4.5lt V8 into it.
What do other people drive? |
I restore destroyed jeeps, so I've owned quite a few in my 22 years of life.
I drive this daily (pictures are representations, i don't have pics of mine) http://filias.net/dino/images/94WranglerStock2.jpg And I use this for offroading in the Everglades: http://www.renegades.us/trailreports...n/01180027.jpg The red 90' YJ has 36" BFGoodwrench All-Terrain T/A tires, has a new differential, and an onboard compressor. |
I've got an 80 CJ-7 with 31" mud terrains that I like to take muddin, but no serious climbing
|
I assume i need a few more posts to be able to put up pictures, but I'll put some up when i can.
Arch13 - they look like Swampers not all terrains? |
Unless you're into major rockcrawling or jumpin out in the dunes, there isn't anything close here that really requires much more than a stock Jeep. Doesn't rain here, so no mudding either :(
Anyway, ya i go out. Got an 87 Jeep Cherokee Laredo : 4.0L 4WD. Not a picture of me doing much of anything but http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/fa59a65e.jpg And one of my buddies...this was kinda neat just to see how high we could get that back tire up, but not having to do anything challenging to do it. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...5/fadcf9e2.jpg |
Wow - does anyone NOT own a Jeep?

I have a 92' Izusu Trooper, and trust me the hell i have that through. It has a two inch lift and it has to have a replaced muffler after jumping it replaced shocks 3 time in 4 years, and i take it to the mud pits in my town, and it still has 212k miles on it.
And thats on the stock 3.2L V6. |
I have a 97 Tacoma, but I used to have a 1989 Rangie with a 4.6, headers, and a quadrajet carb. Only had BFG A/T on it.. but they were good for an all around tire.
tuffrr: I am guessing that if you have Simex tires yours on the other side of the pond? |
Yep - Am in Australia. The Simex are the tyre of choice for most people were I live in Victoria because of the type of driving we have available to us which is predominately mud and hills.
|
CJ2112 - thats an interesting paint scheme. Did you do that yourself or was that something that came with the truck?
|
got a 92 'yota that is basically stock with rancho shocks and 31 in. bfg all terrains. does not sound like much, but it can hold its own. i have gone throug suprisingly deep mud holes without getting stuck or water in the engine or cabin.
|
Well I'll follow a 92 toyota with an 82. Nearly stock, Rancho Shocks, Pro Zap front Bumper. Really clean inside and out. It was my only driver (16 until now I'm 29) until a month ago then I inherited/bought an Accord. So I can start with some mods to the faithful steed. Old Man Emu Lift, Tranny work, lockers and gears, winch. Just make it more capable not extreme.<p>http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...6/fef52fce.jpg
