I had originally posted this thread... link

It doesn't look like it's too far off from the artists concept rendering...

I like the previous models of the eclipse, 1995-1999. They lost me when the new model 2000 where produced. And now this!!!

The drawings are nice...

But whats under the hood, did they bring back the Turbo?

Nice rims

Scorps 01-07-2004 11:25 AM

One word UGLY!

Tech 01-07-2004 11:44 AM

interesting. it would definately be a cool car to have, in my opinion. it has a lot more taste and a little less "rice" than previous models (and what owners have done to them). i would hope that if this car made it to production that people would have enough sense to not put huge metal wings on it and such, ruining the lines of the car. it'd be like putting a huge aluminum wing on a G35 or something.

anyway, the interior will have more stuff when it makes it to production, always does. and i think the seats could use a little more bolstering :-P

Stare At The Sun 01-07-2004 01:18 PM

I *THINK* I see a FMIC in that first pic and last pic! Which would be very cool, but i could just be seeing shit too...

Overall, i'll wait till i see engine specs, and more pics.

Peryn 01-07-2004 05:38 PM

Ehh.... i think its...well....ugly. In my opinion, the styling works, but only in the fact that it looks very much like a FWD car to me. And on that note....youd think they'd have figured out that if they ever want to compete as a REAL sports car, they hafta be AWD or at least RWD. it might be awd...but looking at the pics...doesn't really seem like it.

DEI37 01-07-2004 08:49 PM

Talk about cab-forward styling! This thing gets a little too carried away on that front. In my opinion, it's fugly.

forseti-6 01-07-2004 09:01 PM

I dunno... It looks like Mitsubishi tried too hard on this one. It's got too much going on.

dangsta 01-08-2004 01:30 AM

i think it looks pretty cool. remember guys, its only the concept design. the actual production model wouldnt be so.. excessive

viper11885 01-08-2004 01:33 AM

Argh!

That is ugly. Totally don't like that design. Anybody know what kind of numbers that thing is going to put down?

ChickenNinja 01-08-2004 07:00 AM

Yeah, this is a real concept car. No gauges, and unless it's hidden somewhere, no gas ... filler thingie.

I think it looks great though, although it reminds me of the 350Z in that I like the front, rear and 3/4ths views, but hate the profile.

Heh. I was about to make a post about the e-brake being in the door, when I went back and looked, and saw it was actually the door handle...

Driv300mph 01-08-2004 03:07 PM

'

drawerfixer 01-08-2004 05:27 PM

Blech. No matter how I look at it, the car seems to be going backwards in every picture!

I like the hatchback/trunk opening though.

Same here. To be a proper Eclipse it needs a turbo engine option and a hood bump. They should look back at what has made the car unique from the beginning.

End User 01-08-2004 09:08 PM

IMO, pretty Fugly.

Tiger69z 01-08-2004 09:09 PM

I like it, kinda weird, but elegantly unique :)

lakefire 01-09-2004 04:37 PM

I don't think it's the most beautiful car out there, but that's not where they were going (or so I would assume).

Admit it, the car looks fast without it even moving. It has sexy lines and although some parts of it don't seem to go together it looks pretty futurist and cool.

I'd rather see a car test the future rather than bring back all this retro shit we've been seeing.

In conclusion: I neither like nor dislike this car.

Sion 01-10-2004 02:57 PM

man, thats nasty (and not in the good way).

Just got back from NAIAS, and it's AWD. According to the program it's got two engines, one up front and one in back, and can accelerate even while shifting. I've got some big pictures of it if I can find some space for them.

saleenobsessed 01-10-2004 04:19 PM

i like it

Snakebyt 01-10-2004 05:53 PM

i like the seats, wheels, and brakes, but thats about it

twilightfoix 02-08-2004 08:09 PM

i like it. with the side exhaust and the glass roof. really nice

username 02-08-2004 08:19 PM

I somewhat like the look. It looks closer to the 2nd gens (a good thing), however, the rear could use some help.

Vaultboy 02-08-2004 08:49 PM

looks nice. but its still only a concept, so it will probably be toned down a bit for production.

Two engine idea is a nice touch. Cab forward design is probably to achieve 50:50 balance. Agressive stace does make it look fast, though. Face it, its a car that will attract attention, whether you love it or hate it, and that is probably the most important thing when buying a car like this.

Lack of any storage space (and a spare wheel/space saver) makes it highly unpractical though. I'll rather wait for the new skyline GTR, thank you.

wrongfullyaccuzd 02-09-2004 12:34 AM

I still hate it. And I hate that if it makes it to production, they'll be all over the place here.

cj22009 02-09-2004 06:10 AM

It looks like a damn turtle I dont like it lol....

twilightfoix 02-10-2004 09:01 PM

i only hope that this car actually sees production as the 4th generation eclipse. i think it looks a lot better than the the 3rd generation eclispe.

powerclown 02-10-2004 09:23 PM

I like it, pretty sexy. Interesting roof. Don't like the trunk opening to the side. In the right color, with the right wheels, 4 wheel drive, this thing could be a blast to drive and look awesome.

Very cool!!

Halx 02-10-2004 10:07 PM

butt fugly.. looks like a ladybug from the front

onetime2 02-11-2004 05:20 AM

Interesting. Not sure if I would buy one (probably not) but it's unique. I definitely don't like the hatch. Seems almost useless as it's designed.

Scorps 02-11-2004 08:53 AM

The colour in the first pictures is sweet but thats all I like about this car!

The Audi wheels look better

bundy 02-13-2004 07:48 PM

i quite like this.
although i can't really see myself driving one, i guess it will look kinda pretty on the road.

phathom 02-19-2004 02:46 PM

Very clean, looks like they are copying the style of that lexus in minority report everyone hyped so much or the style of the 350Zs and all those type of cars now. Very clean look to it though, too much on the gull wing openings though, what's wrong with a normal hinge? and if your going to do it that much, just make the doors that way too. anyways I won't say I wouldn't drive it, but I probably wouldn't buy it. Rather have a 95-99 eclipse the newer ones are just too ummm. YUCK
