A friend and i were talking recently and we got ont the topic of car stereotypes: here are some we came up with

Minivan-soccermom
dodge truck-a middle age dad driving to fast
exterra-hippie nature dude with power bar sticker on back window
miata=gay



Can you guys come up with more?
and remember to not get offended if you drive a stereotype, because they are just that

I drive a volvo, and I'm 27 years old....I feel like I'm breaking a sterotype.

But I also have bull horns mounted on the front.

vw beetles (new ones): gay guy or young woman

camaro: white trash

firebird: white trash

accord or camry: conformist

Chevy Celebrity: Good looking guy

I don't own a car. I ride a scooter and motorcycles. What does that say about me?

Mustang = solid american

I have to disagree on the Dodge Ram... I got one for my HS graduation present and I absolutely love it. And being in Texas (the land of the trucks) the sereotype doesnt work here.

60s Mustang = solid American
90s-00's Mustang = age 16-23 Girl

Yup yup.

I always think it's funny that the biggest oversize trucks always have some little 5'6" dude driving them.

Jetta, gay guys or hot girls.
Passat, same as above.
Big truck, hicks
Miata, old guy going through midlife crisis
Large SUV (Excusion, etc.) if driven by a woman, it's her husbands and she's just trying to act like hot shit.

Escalade without rims=middle class person trying to act rich

Whats with this? Actually, camaros are a ton better then mustangs (old ones anyway). Who can complain about a 67 camaro!?

Did you consider new pickup trucks? Old rusted out trucks, sure.

New trucks are for the young, fun loving, outdoors crowd.

New trucks - People who like to think they are young, fun loving, and outdoorsy even though they aren't.

Big SUVs - Compensating for small penises, the smaller the penis, the bigger the SUV

Imports with wings, stickers, spray painted interior trim, and coffee can mufflers - High school racer wannabes that think they're badasses.

This is what I think when i see certain cars

Kia Sephia - I learned nothing from the failure of Daihatsu.
Lotus Esprit - Ever pay $2000 for a tune up? I do.
MGB - I am dating a mechanic.
Buick Park Avenue - I am older than 34 of the 50 states.
Jeep Wrangler - I am fiercely independent, just like all my friends with Jeeps.
Chevrolet El Camino - I am leading a militia to overthrow the government.
Rolls Royce Silver Shadow - I think Pat Buchanan is a tad too liberal.
Dodge Charger - Reliable is boring. My car is exciting
Dodge Daytona - I delivered pizza for four years to get this car.
Infiniti Q45 - I am a physician with 17 malpractice suits pending.
Plymouth Fury - I like driving an air-conditioned sofa that can carry your car in my trunk as a spare.

No apologies necessary redlemon. There's gonna be a certain amount of duplication/overlap along the way. :D

Stereotypes...what else can I say.

Ok, I agree, I'll modify this to say models from 1980 on.

Old Beemers: Rich people drove this car when it was new...
Econo with Shopping Cart Wing: Vin Desil is such a badass in that movie...
Mercedes CLK: My daddy bought me this to go to the mall in
Camry: Like a Japanese Town Car
Big SUV: either "Bigger is Safer" or "i have a small penis"
Beater Trucks: Hick
Chevy Blazer: Hick and proud of it

I sure as hell dont fit into any molds when I'm driving my MR2 Turbo. Its lowered with 17" Volk wheels and other seemingly "rice" stuff to the untrained eye. Honda Boys (another stereotype i know) give me hella weird looks when I get out (6'4 White guy), or when they hear the AC/DC and Slayer blastin out tha windows:D

Agreed, 2nd, and 3rd generation camaros are white trash territory.

Nice, gotta love the MR2s. As a tall white guy, I know that when I eventually get the cash to pick up a very nice sports car (thinking 3000GT VR-4 or RX-7 FD), I'll get some odd looks from the ricers. :D

OMG that is so true! I've got an '89 chevy celebrity with that nice dark blue peeling paint ;) Next to it, anything looks good :rolleyes: Only 84,000 miles but it has problems. Hopefully will replace it this xmas with a brand spanking new Mazda 3 :) Any sterotypes about that yet? Just came out last month, so hopefully nothing bad :)

As for the comment about Town Cars being slow old people, I drive my mom's Town Car sometiems, and I'll let you know that they have no problem hitting 100mph

Geo Metro: I just found the car in an alley with a note that said please give me a good home.

interesting, because i when i think of porsche, i think: "thank god i am done with med school/ law school/ business school (pick one) and now i think its time reward myself a little bit.'

"i've busted my ass to make my money, and now its time to stop fakin in these $30k wanna be sports cars, and get with a real thoroughbred perfomer."

if i had a small dick, i wouldnt be spending $80k to compensate for it with a porsche, hummer, et. al...i would be making an appointment for a $30k enlargement surgery and spending the other $50k on a brand new 5 series.

anyway, my other favorite stereotypes:

mazda (most) = african
hyndai, kia, daewoo, ect...= cars arent important to me
SUV's = ultimate conformist
benz, bmw, jag, saab, audi = i like cars alot
honda, yota, nissan = too cheap to pay for acura, lexus, infiniti

Stereotypes:

Camaro: white trash :D
Escalade: bling bling playa sucka
MR2: nerd
240sx: cheap drifter
Lexus/Infiniti: someone who wants everyone to think they have money :rolleyes:
BMW/Mercedes: someone who actually does have money

BMW or AMG Mercedes: Tailgater on their cell phone.

toyota sienna = asian moms

This list probably fits here quite well...though it is Australian oriented. FYI VL/Commodore/HSV are all domestic cars under holden, and XR6 and XR8 are domestics under Ford.
VL is an old commodore that is regarded as a yobs car. Enjoy.

VL - The "could only afford the engine" car
XR6 – Can still only afford the engine, but at least it’s a new one
S13 - The New P platers VL
S14 - The doriftor's car
S15 – The blind doriftor’s car
RX7 – The deaf doriftor’s car
Skyline - The racer with a good memory's car
GTR - The rich racer with a good memory's car
WRX - The bottle shop ram raider's car
STi - The jewelry shop ram raider's car
Commodore - The boat ownner's car
HSV - The yacht owner's car
XR8 – The boat/yacht owner without unlimited oil’s car
MX5 - The old hairdresser's car
TypeR - The new hairdresser's car
Celica - The wannabe hairdresser's car
Peugeot - The home handy man's car

This is truly the most amusing thread i have seen in some time. I dont believe that I fit into any of the stereotypes though. I own several cars and 2 trucks. 98 Mustang Conv with the 4.6L and have done quite a few mods less the big one which comes next after saving for approx 10 yrs.... putting the motor outta a GT40 in it, secondly a 94 Del Sol that will be recieving extensive modifications, 2 94 eclipses, 2 Blazers 77 & 85, 77 Ford beater Truck, 98 Z71, and lastly a 99 R6 that tops at about 185

With that said, what stereotype do I fit into?????


SUV/XUV = stupid bitch that cant drive to start with and then buys a tank

Dodge Neon = Mexican "cant afford a Jap car to rice"

White Caprice = likes to spook other drivers into thinking that there is a cop following them

Automatic Jeeps w/ street tires = thinks he/she is the outdoorsy type

Sunfire = young girl... My Daddy bought me a new car young male... they sell alot of ricer stuff for this car

miniVan = Soccor mom

above at Xmas time = Ax murderess

Escalade with 24" spinners = obviosly I sell drugs, cant you tell

BMW = M-gay yuppy older F-Im young and a hottie "it was this car or a set of tits" young female-practicing to be her mom

Ford Exploder = I couldnt afford the real bling bling so this will have to do

Chicks on Harleys = Washing machine exhabitionist

Honestly, I've been gettin pissed about the miata stereotype...

I own a 1991 RX-7 right now, and am either looking for an unreliable 94 or 95 RX-7, or a 99-03 Miata. Why would I conisder a miata? They outhandle almost ANYTHING! Sure they are not fast in the 1/4 mile, but who says a supercharger can't fix that to make it into the low 13s? I actually see more guys driving miatas than girls...

But hell, I don't get most of the stereotypes anyways... Corvette=small penis? Yeah... that's retarded.

And BTW...a supercharger wont put you into the 13s in a Miata...just an FYI

This is not a stereotype where I live. If you don't believe me, come down here. In fact, this stereotype goes beyond that. All SUV's and large trucks are driven by impatient people driving way the hell too fast, all the time, and you can often see large trucks and SUV's pulled to the side of the road with a poilce car behind them. I hope to leave my home town as soon as humanly possible :)

has anyone ever seen a female of any age driving a WRX? I see at least one WRX a day and have only seen guys.
Also, I've only seen a black guy driving a Vette once, ever. I've seen tons of Vettes, but always white guys (ok some women too but mostly men). Am I wrong here?

actually yeah, just yesterday i saw a girl in a blue WRX ...from a quick glance it at least had exhaust and wheels....and she was young and hot :D :p
