Mitsubishi Motors to show Eclipse Concept-E at Detroit Motor Show


Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc., has issued the following press release:

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc., the unit that oversees MMC operations in North America, will give the Eclipse Concept-E high-performance sports concept car its global debut at the North American International Auto Show (the Detroit Motor Show) to be held from January 4 to 19, 2004, at the Cobo Center in Detroit. The show opens to the general public on 10 January.

Since its introduction on the North American market, the Eclipse compact sports coupe/ convertible series has won wide and popular acclaim for its advanced styling and segment-leading driving performance. The Eclipse Concept-E concept model carries the spirit that pulsates through the series to new frontiers. Forcefully projecting a high-performance sports car image, Concept-E also gives graphic expression to MMC

This looks really nice and agressive compared to the current bland styling. I hope that most of it makes it to production.

No good can come of that car....i design is not one that appeals to my sense of style. And hte huge rims aren't helping it either...

Unless they make some changes to the engine and drive configuration, i would be greatly saddened if this made it to production.

yeah, all they did was take the current eclipse and mold it into supercar (mid-rear lambo/ferrari) porportions

Those drawings scream out for a mercy killing - I'm not a fan.

looks kinda like a blend between the current eclipse and the lexus concept car from Minority Report

That's a horrible Eclipse, 350z, G35 crossbreed. Gross.

Yeah I was gonna say, it looks like a 350z, crossed with the older-body Eclipse (from when the Eclipse body was shared with the Eagle Talon body). Hopefully they won't be like Chrysler and send this drawing directly to production... stupid Durango...

Yeah, i see some infuence from the celica in that too. Also, going more towards the older 2g DSM. *shrugs* i don't much care for it, but i think the 1st gen eclipse is the bests car evar...

That's because the wheels actually make the car HOVER! It's that fast... or something.

So the wheels don't touch the groumd and don't have tires? If it's cooler than putting a three-level wing on my stock Civic, I'm buying it even if it doesn't move!

That was my obnoxious side making its appearance. The car was fine last generation, it's just going downhill now.

Is the concept car gunna have that orange flame "aura", cause that'd be cool.

ever since they took away the turbo, awd, and the hood buldge eclipse's have gone to the shitter

its a characature of what it would look like....it never would look like that
