Pretty cool BoCo ... but here is what I think. The Ultima is sold as a kit car without an engine but will accept a small block chevy. So there is no telling what size small block is actually in the GTR above. But we do know that that Mustang is a 5.0L Ford V8 powered drag race car probably in the 500hp ball park. My money is on the Mustang even though the GTR weighs a lot less

I have to agree with Thadon - the stang has a lot of work done to it... Those arn't a set of drag radials hanging off the back end. Granted I am a chevy guy those old fox bodys don't take much to get deep into the 9's

Naw, I disagree with you both. The GTR could easily have 500hp or more, plus it weighs 1,000lbs less if not more, than the Mustang, plus it has it's engine in the back, with all that weight right over that rear wheels. Add in the better aerodynamics, and the GTR could beat the Mustang no problem.

i am a chevy guy too but don't doubt those 5.0's , those things are SICK, there are SOO many aftermarket parts for them that i dont doubt at all that it could cream that car, i have seen sooo many of those in the 9's and lower. Never underestimate a 5.0.

I'm saying the Mustang here. There is wayyy too many of that particular style running very quick quarters , and that looks to follow that formula. If the Ultima GTR had a VERY strong motor in it, maybe, but it has pretty thin back tires to be a good drag car ( No sidewalls on rear tire = bad )

yep. i hate 'em, but im gonna have to go with the stang on this one. that one's got a lot of tire on the ass end for a 10 second car. that one is probably in the 8's or 9's.

The Ford will probably (just) beat the Ultima on the straights, but hit a bend and the Ultima will run away from the Ford, easy.
Its a bleedin' track car, not a drag motor. It'll still pull a 1/4 in 10.9 though, with a chevy 350, don't know what state of tune though. With a bit of tuning .... sweet. |
