Now here's a drag race I'd like to see!
Pretty cool BoCo ... but here is what I think. The Ultima is sold as a kit car without an engine but will accept a small block chevy. So there is no telling what size small block is actually in the GTR above. But we do know that that Mustang is a 5.0L Ford V8 powered drag race car probably in the 500hp ball park. My money is on the Mustang even though the GTR weighs a lot less
I have to agree with Thadon - the stang has a lot of work done to it... Those arn't a set of drag radials hanging off the back end. Granted I am a chevy guy those old fox bodys don't take much to get deep into the 9's
Naw, I disagree with you both. The GTR could easily have 500hp or more, plus it weighs 1,000lbs less if not more, than the Mustang, plus it has it's engine in the back, with all that weight right over that rear wheels. Add in the better aerodynamics, and the GTR could beat the Mustang no problem.
I dont care who wins as long as I get to hump the GTR.
I'd have to agree with BoCo, GTR all the way.
i am a chevy guy too but don't doubt those 5.0's , those things are SICK, there are SOO many aftermarket parts for them that i dont doubt at all that it could cream that car, i have seen sooo many of those in the 9's and lower. Never underestimate a 5.0.
Ultima GTR
You can't say one or the other. You have no idea what is in either car. That fox body stang could have a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder, the GTR could have a 262 SBC. You just don't know. Is it unlikely? Of course, but the point is, you don't know.
True....The mustang has slicks and a full cage..If it's a race legal car it should run in the 10's to "need" a full cage..But from the picture there's no telling...I'd like to see it though.
Probably take 7-800 HP just to pull the tires on the Stang- I think all your gonna' see is Ford ass! Leavin'
I'm saying the Mustang here. There is wayyy too many of that particular style running very quick quarters , and that looks to follow that formula. If the Ultima GTR had a VERY strong motor in it, maybe, but it has pretty thin back tires to be a good drag car ( No sidewalls on rear tire = bad )
Mustang... it could be 8, 9 seconder. GTR is no lower than 10.
yep. i hate 'em, but im gonna have to go with the stang on this one. that one's got a lot of tire on the ass end for a 10 second car. that one is probably in the 8's or 9's.
The ultima wont crack 10's unless a 7 second car is PULLIN it.
Lets see, Ultra low pro tires, Independat suspension, low ride height.. That thing WILL NOT hook for shit. it will slide like a greased pig. low 11's, at best. The stang would rape it. |
IS this for real. The GSR would rock the mustang. Of course, I have a passionate hatred for Ford for political reasons.
I'd just like to see them race, I don't see the point of debating it with so many unknowns.
The Ford.
So........ Who won? Or do you even know? |
The Ford will probably (just) beat the Ultima on the straights, but hit a bend and the Ultima will run away from the Ford, easy.
Its a bleedin' track car, not a drag motor. It'll still pull a 1/4 in 10.9 though, with a chevy 350, don't know what state of tune though. With a bit of tuning .... sweet. |
My bets on the guy in the black hat! J/K Really I would go with the Ultima because I dont care how big a motor you put in a Ford it still SUCKS!!!
I bet the stang, looks like a drag car. The ultima would torch the stang on a autoX course.
It all depends on who dumps the most money into there car and know how to build an engine/drive it
$500 on the Mustang, and I hate Fords. There's no possible way that car would grip using those tires. Trust me, i'm a drag fanatic, that mustang would smoke it.
yeah but in an actual race on a road course theres no question who the winner would be
