Are there any TDI VW Fans here? (I have Questions)

			Hey guys,

I have a few questions about the TDI VW's. If you personally own one, would you buy another? What are the benifits of a Desiel vs. Gas, are there any besides Gas/mileage? I hear that repairs cost more is this so? Im comparing a VW Golf TDI to a Toyota Corolla.. GAS is geting expensive and all I do is drive. HELP PLEASE! Thanks, AT Last edited by ataylor20; 05-05-2003 at 05:25 AM.. |

I'm a fan, I don't know much in depth about TDI engines so I can't really answer your question about "how expensive are repairs". Im sure diesel perfomance parts are more expensive than the equivolent petrol parts, but not certain.

As for mileage issues, the Golf TDi kicks some serious ass. I have a A4 Golf GTTDi PD 150, and it does 52.3mpg. No petrol car with as much poke as my golf does mileage like that. Last edited by schteve1; 05-05-2003 at 05:55 AM.. |

The TDI's do cost more to maintain and repair. Oil changes cost a lot more, because VW recommends synthetic oil. The fuel mileage difference comes close to paying for that, but if an injection pump breaks, that's a $1000+ part. Glow plugs are some $45 a piece. Worth it? If you buy it new, then yeah. Otherwise, I'd stick with a good gas powered car.

				Go for it

TDi, to put it mildly, rocks

The fuel efficiency is terrific. The torque is enough to pull a house. (Well, nearly). And with the second generation common rail with higher pressure, refinement too has improved. All in all, you can't go wrong, though I'd still prefer you go for Audi A3 2 litre with DSG instead of Golf. For more info, go to http://www.germancarfans.com/ and read all you can!(including the forums and the reviews) ![]()

Diesel engines will last ALOT longer than gas engines, they haev fewer problems and can easily go hundreds of thousands of miles with no major service......and the gas mileage is awsome AND diesel fuel prices are alot more stable then regular, and usually lower....
