TDi, to put it mildly, rocks

The fuel efficiency is terrific. The torque is enough to pull a house. (Well, nearly). And with the second generation common rail with higher pressure, refinement too has improved.
All in all, you can't go wrong, though I'd still prefer you go for Audi A3 2 litre with DSG

instead of Golf.
