Renna... too sad...
Renna killed during test at Speedway
By Robin Miller Special to ESPN.com INDIANAPOLIS -- Race driver Tony Renna, taking his first laps with his new team at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during a tire test, was fatally injured Wednesday morning. Renna, who would have turned 27 years old next month, was going into Turn 3 when his car jumped sideways and became airborne while going 218 mph. According to witnesses, the car cleared the four-foot concrete wall and smashed into the catch fence -- breaking in half in the cockpit area. link |

Keep on rolling. It only hurts for a little while.

Hate to hear about wrecks like this. We all know it is part of the sport and some of what draws the crowd, but we never want to see someone hurt or dead.

crazybill...racing is fun. But there is this dangerous side to running 225+ mph with a concrete wall to keep you in bounds. I feel if this driver would have hit the wall, he would have lived. Still would have had injuries, but relatively minor.
Either way, these are sad occurences.
