Some dude made a MB SLR McLaren from scratch... unbelievable!

Some dude in Poland made a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren to himself with a motto: When you want a car that isn't yet in production, build it yourself...That's what I always say!

Pictures here

That will drop your jaws to the floor, guaranteed!

Enjoy! :)

nothing beats the real thing, although thats a good project.

Chingal0 10-21-2003 11:45 PM

uh, thats intense. he should garden or something, knit me a sweater.

kycivicboy 10-22-2003 12:10 AM

Yeah i think i could drive that car. he did a reall good job on it.. I wish i had those skills he has.

merkerguitars 10-22-2003 08:10 AM

Damn that is some talent......talk about having exactly a 1 of 1 car.

Peryn 10-22-2003 09:30 AM

Old pics, but still a very cool project. The proportions dont look quite right, but considering what he had to begine the project with, its pretty neat. Very impressive fabricating skills, but he should have at least cleaned out the engine bay.

soccerchamp76 10-22-2003 02:27 PM

That got has got some mad skills....I wonder how long it took him to build it. He could make some serious dough from those skills ya know.

Moonduck 10-22-2003 03:34 PM

We have a guy from Poland on a motorcycle board I'm on. His bike is insane, best metal work I've ever seen. What's more sick is that all he did to the bike was clear coat it. You can see that the steel is all hand-formed without a bit of Bondo. There's some crazy talent in Poland apparently.

Kurant 10-22-2003 04:21 PM

Nothing beats the real thing? Are you crazy? I'd rather build one myself ANYday!

Rudel73 10-22-2003 04:49 PM

thats NUTS! I wish i had enough talent to do something like that!

Actually i'm surprised that Mercedes didnt file a suit or something for copyright infringment or something like that...

wrongfullyaccuzd 10-22-2003 05:52 PM

alright at first that looked like a real pos but i gotta admit it looked pretty good by the end...but seriously, let me know when he recovers from all the lawsuits...
you know if he was in the u.s. he'd be broke by now with lawsuits.

Peryn 10-22-2003 09:13 PM

I dunno....if i Were Mercedes id talk to him....but i dont think it be worth suing him. I think id instead have a nice chit chat and talk about hiring him into the company....with skills like that id much rather have him working for me than against me...

majik_6 10-22-2003 09:38 PM

That's absolutely amazing! Here I am, thinking I'm the king ding-a-ling of fabricating, cause the patch panel I welded in didn't crack out, and then I see this! Inspiring to say the least.

thadon 10-23-2003 08:46 AM

damn he is a metal working PIMP ... I'm impressed

Scorps 10-23-2003 11:22 AM

OMFG thats amazing.

What chassis is that built on?

Stare At The Sun 10-23-2003 11:42 AM

That is quite impressive, props to him. I wonder what the total cost of that was

majik_6 10-23-2003 12:44 PM

According to the site, it's an 88 Benz of some sort (don't remember specifically) and he has about 75,000 Euros invested, if I'm not mistaken.

preluder 10-23-2003 02:01 PM

for 75,000 euros i would have bought a really nice car. but then again it wouldn't be a SLR would it.

JusticeForPhat 10-23-2003 09:12 PM

that pic with the wiring harness hanging out brings back lots of bad memories for me. But damn is that some talent.

supafly 10-24-2003 01:36 AM

This guy is absolutly amazing.

never 10-24-2003 03:45 PM

THAT GUY IS INCREDIBLE!!!! I wonder is he'd sell it. :)

duckduck 10-24-2003 04:37 PM

Wow. The time involved.........the time....................

ducati999 10-25-2003 12:13 PM

damn, thats sweet

forseti-6 10-25-2003 02:51 PM

WOW. From the first picture of just the chasis to the finished product - that's just amazing.

WarWagon 10-25-2003 07:21 PM

As long as he's not selling the car, and the proportions arent 100% the same nor is the powerplant, what is there to sue him over? Plenty of lamborghini, shelby, ferrari, porsche clones out there too.

Thats absolutely amazing given what he had to work with, which is absolutely nothing. It'll be interesting to see if he does a motor swap (which he damn well better.)

sTghezzo 10-25-2003 09:10 PM

thats amazing. was that model originally a mercedes concept car that he decided to make reality or was that just his own idea. i dont know much about mercedes.

ASNstunta 10-25-2003 09:18 PM

Wow, thats just sweet. Wonder how much money went into building it.
