I asked a question similar to this on the gaming forum. That might be where you want to go. A year ago i would have had the perfect answer for you : Motor City Online. I still haven't been able to find a game as awesome as that. You could pick literally EVERY part of your car, assuming it was compatible. You could choose the block, the cam, which pistons, which crank, the radiator and cooling system, the tires, tranny, rearend, heads, etc. I still have the game installed, but they shut it down, and nobody has figured how to crack it into single player to make use of their parts database If anyone does know of a similar game, please let me know as well.

Live for Speed has excellent physics, but bland cars (not real ones). The first time I missed a corner and crashed into a wall, I had an eary flashback to when I nearly did the same thing in real life. No other game has had that effect on me.
Racer is still heavily in development (betas available), but is trying to do all the physics properly. All the cars and tracks are made by fans, so quality runs the gamut. No AI yet. |

Im pretty sure the new version of Racer has an AI. I haven't tried it, but i KNOW that it offers it on the menu. Its fun and the custom made stuff is neat, but its waaay to unstable on my machine still

The EA Sports F1 Games are pretty good sims...but the chances of you going for a fang in a F1 in real life are probably pretty slim, unless your surname is Schumacher.
If you dont already own a PS2, get one. Gran Turismo 4 is going to be absolutely mind blowing!

Well on the gaming forum i was told to get EA's f1 2002 or something like that. their new(er) F1 game. Then download what looks to be a really sweet mod called GT Racer 2002 ... Do a google for GTR 2002 and read about it...going the modding route looks like it can produce a pretty badass game. Ill look into it and post a few links in a while if you want to check it out.

GTR 2002
http://www.gtr.kickassgamers.com/page.php?id=7 Below the download section they talk about the game. It sounds pretty neat, but you need the retail game first. Impressive mod. Also states that EA has hired them on for future games iirc. Racer : http://www.racer-xtreme.com/ You can get their latest beta there, and download a bunch of custom stuff. Looks very promising and the physics are neat, but beware that it is VERY much still in beta and could be unstable. It crashes or restarts one of my systems almost every time i run it. Fun little game thouhg, might want to check it out and keep an eye on it. Also i hear the new Need For Speed coming out is supposed to be very promising, but again, i still haven't heard of a game as badass as MCO for customizing your car, and the physics your engine / suspension changes make...

As for F-1 racing, I really like the Geoff Crammond Grand Prix 3 with the 2002 season add-on (had to order from England). I also had F-1 2002 from EA Sports but thought the Crammond games were much more realistic and driving, to me, seemed much more realistic than any EA offering. Also Grand Prix Legends is a classic that is a really cool experience.

well the colin mcrea rally games are pretty sweet. i had 2 and loved it. really made you feel as you were driving alot of the times. while rally isnt for everyone, and it is very difficult...makes for a fun game. graphics on 3 are much better, now if my computer could play it.
for me ill stick to gran turismo games....and do like i do, make realisitc cars after you beat it and shit. get say a siliva and mod it with basic stuff that you would do if it was your car. intake/exhaust, turbo upgrade, clutches, tires....dont do full raceing stuff tho do level 1 or 2. then race some of the easier races, makes them more fun and challengeing

Soon Need for Speed Underground will be released. You can tune and mod your cars bodywork and enter online streetraces against other carfreaks. Kinda 2Fast 2Furios.
Check out the link: http://www.eagames.com/official/nfs/...nd/us/home.jsp

If you can find Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed (and you don't have an NT-based windows), that game actually had shockingly realistic physics, especially when you take into account the previous NFS offerings. Enjoyed that game a lot before I upgraded to win2k.

I cannot wait until Gran Turismo 4 is out.
I am also thinking of picking up Need for Speed Underground. Anybody who has an XBOX, Check out Moto GP2..It's a bike racing game...This game is amazing. You can choose a custom bike and choose your paint style. The gameplay is amazing.
