i wonder how they did that, i mean did they spend all that money then just let the computer go for it, i have to belive someone was in that plane

gump 04-28-2003 02:16 PM

i'd be funny if after it crashed that guy said... "that was the only computer driven plane."

Cynthetiq 04-29-2003 02:11 AM

had a WIN BSOD and couldn't land

rs8001 04-29-2003 04:05 PM

That was an airbus doing a low fly-by at some airshow in France. I don't remember exactly but there was some debate about the cause of this crash. I believed the captian claimed to add power but the plane did not respond. Airbus uses, I believe, a fly by wire system on all their aircraft. The aircraft was carrying some passengers and some were killed.

Ohhh no.. oh no. That is nutty and sad at the same time.

Thanks for sharing, phred.

senor_farto 04-30-2003 05:46 AM

those bastards! the french support strange means of deforestation...

but seriously, i think some people coulda died in that crash, so my deepest condolances go out to them.

bubbaspike 04-30-2003 08:43 PM

That was at least 10 yrs. ago.
What are they doing today?

shakran 05-01-2003 04:33 PM

no one died in the crash. that was a testbed for a fully autonomous autopilot.
