Sagging Headliner

I have an 87 cadillac Eldorado, and the headliner is starting to sag above the driver's seat. Does anyone know an easy way to fix this?

3M spray adhesive. It's glue.....strong stuff.
You can find it at most auto parts stores.

If you use it, you'll need to pull the headliner off so you can spray the two surfaces that meet each other (i.e., the inside of the headliner and the inside of the roof.

I've used it to re-glue leather trim, and it works very well.

thumb tacks are a quicck fix,if the material on the head liner is falling it is failing. go to an upolstry shop and tell them of the problem . if you do not wish to cut out all of the holes in the new head liner and then 3 m it $ 40.00 dollars and go pick it up. thats in louisianna prices might vary by state. good luck man.

superheavy duty Velcro strips that are carried at Lowes or home Depot

Simple velcro may be your best bet. First, i would recommend hitting up the junkyards/autoyards and looking for a decent headliner. Should be 50 bucks or less.

I have tried, to no avail, several different methods to fix it on my jeep. I tried the 3m adhesive spray and it simply ate the foam or whatever that was under the carpet. It sounded like a good idea, but in the end was a lot of hassle for nothing. I then tried some fabric stuff. It is a wierd backing that melts when ironed into a fabric glue. Put it between the foam backing and fabric headliner. Heat gun / iron later and it seemed to work. For a week.

I havent found anything that doesn't look like total ass that works. Id say give velcro a try, but dont hope it to look to great. MY opinion would be take it to an upholstry shop and let them work their magic. They can do amazing things. If you find your own way that works and looks good, lemme know. Im open to ideas, but untill then i guess it just sags and rubs my hair

well, i don't know if i want to completely replace it, because other than the fact that it is sagging, the headliner is in great shape. no holes rips tears.

How would I take it off to put that spray adhesive in?

unbolt / unnap (i am just speaking of my car, i dont know anything about yours) all the plastic pieces on the top of the pillars. Basically i just took all the trim plastic molding off and mine had a few clips and fell right down. Get the whole headliner out of the car. Once you see it, it will basically be a simple as peeling the fabric back. Hopefully....Also, a Haynes manual (i HATE chiltons) might have some information for you. Just start tearing trim of and hope for the best
