hmm.... 350z isn't too bad for a 6cyl.
Miata doesn't have a whole lot of power stock, but is built for a turbo. Not too much trouble and you can have 300RWHP on stock internals with an incredibly light car. Firebird WS6 isn't so bad Slightly used TT quattro convertible.... not too much horsepower, but a solid car RX-8. Not a whole lot of mods for it yet. Maybe a later RX-7 .. a lot of support and modability with that turbo setup. Early c5 vette maybe, definately a c4 in very nice shape. Some of those are on the high end of the spectrum for pricing, but there are a lot of choices for cars out there.

Shit, you have so many options its silly:
Any LS1/LT1 F-body, lower price=more mods. A turbo DSM(eclipse talon laser) w/ 10k of mods would be amazing. A Turbo MR2 would have lots of HP, and amazing handling You could pick up a c5 vette for 30k on a good day Dont count out your german friends though, you can find any number of used BMW's for that price range And, you could always get an older SVT cobra... Also, do you want a V8 or a fourbanger? To many choices w/o more info from u |

the cheapest and best cars to make fast are either the Gen1 Eclipse or Talon(GST or GSX) if you want to go the import route.....or my fav lt1 camaros....parts are alot cheaper for the lt1's than the ls1's....

i would check out a WRX, 225 turbo horsepower is nice and it doesn't take all that much to compete with anything else. I think sport compact car did a comparo of WRX tuners versus a stock WRX STi a couple months ago and some of the tuned cars did pretty well.

As a new RX-8 owner, I suggest you look into getting one. That or a subaru WRX is sweet ride.

Read that article, you'll think twice about buying an RX-8. Yes, it's credible. It was even on CNN. Sorry, but if you design and build a vehicle, you'd think you would test somthign as important as this. Just leads me to think attention to detail. For 30g's you can get an Evo8 or an STi too. But, right at 30g's. Twice the car an RX-8 will ever be. Last edited by Kurant; 09-30-2003 at 05:54 AM.. |

in no way do i think that the Evo or STi is twice the car the rx8 is. More power loss from the AWD, and no where near the handling i bet. And would you really not buy an RX8 for 10 HP difference? Gheez, thats sad.... I can Garauntee you that you would not get in the rx8 and know it has less horsepower than claimed if you drove it without being told.
i would second the RX-8 Vote.

I guess the only thing nice about the RX-8, it's a fully functional interior. It's not a low budget, it comes with a radio etc.. etc.. Flawless inside. I just have a question of the mechanical build quality. It's less expensive too.
Depends on what your looking for I guess. As far as raw performence, the STi and Evo blow the RX-8 off the road. You should really check out the stats. 1/4 mile, the RX-8 is over a second slower, 1 second to over a second slower 0-60. And also slower in a 300-foot skidpad. And no, I woulden't buy one. I woulden't buy any of those cars. You guys just suggested that range of cars, so I posted. Personally, 30g's, if you want a nice interior, solid vechile, I'd go with an Audi A4 (around 30g's, not much higher) maybe even I high end VW. Last edited by Kurant; 09-30-2003 at 05:55 PM.. |

for that much though, you could get a Supra Turbo, makes all those other cars look like crap wagons. .98 skidpad, 0-60 in 5 flat, low 13's quarter mile, toyota reliability even with higher horsepower. geez, even BPU supras smoke vipers, C5 vettes, its unbelievable. Of course, you might even get lucky and be able to get a skyline R32 GTR, i know every now and then MotoRex has them for that much. Or you could probably find a newer skyline GTST for that much too. IMO, id go with the supra. sexiest car ever. |

Just as UnlikedOne said, in the price range of 20k - 30k theres too many great cars to choose. Your options are wide open in this price range, if your looking for a sports car most in this range are gonna be fast. I'd go test drive a few and see which ones I like.
