Dodge Magnum

Well, Dodge is putting the Magnum into production. While it will probably not be exactly the same as the concept, it looks DAMN promising!
Concept:
Supercharged 5.7L V8 Hemi
430hp
480lbft
RWD
Station wagon setup
Sex on wheels!

Looks like a dropped and chopped durango to me.

It has more edges and creases, buts thats the basic idea i get. Oh well, with those performance numbers, and its versatility as a vehichle...it really could fit any situation...i think it would be awesome. Cant wait to see it on teh road to get a real idea of what i think about it

I used to work at the plant that makes these. Production will not start until November for the sedans of this platform. The SRT-8 will be a little down the road from that. They want to get into production faster than the time it took for the Pacifica.

Good news is that it will look very close to the show car except for the wheels and window trim. The details will be along the lines of the Crossfire.

This plant is also gearing up for a new Charger. Large 2-door, RWD, Hemi V8, but I don't think it will be as wild as the concept.

going to take quite a change to make the car AWD. Or they just adopt the S500 4matic platform, that'd make life alot better.

Sorry to ruin your dreams! It's in C&D, I'll see if I can find the article. I love this car, but I live in Alaska, so, that rules it out. =)

BTW, when is Dodge going to just adopt all the Mercedes V8's? I hate the Magnum's. I love the styles and looks, I hate the engines and platforms.

I'm not a big Dodge fan, but I think this is a cool vehicle. Makes me want to have a kid and put him in soccer. I would then be known as SUPER SOCCER DAD.

Lots of parts are starting to go into the next generation Chryslers from Mercedes.

The Pacifica uses insterments and controls designed by Mercedes, as is the rear suspension.

The Crossfire uses a Mercedes V6, transmission and suspension.

The quality of parts for the new LX platform will be alot better. A Mercedes five-speed automatic transmission, plus the suspension, axle, seats and electronics, will be used on the LX.

With the LX cars going RWD, Chrysler is worried people have forgot how to drive a big sedan in slippery conditions.

if ya ask me, people have forgotten how to drive any sedan in any conditions...

Its good to see Chrysler making a push toward RWD though, and i think the market is ready for it. Besides, people want power, and with power comes RWD. or at least should

Anyway, good on Chrysler, this mercedes merger seems to be helpin chrysler out in a big way. Haven't seen mercedes getting to good of a deal out of it yet though...

The Magnum is a hot looking car. I'm not big on American cars, but I've got to hand it Chrysler. They're putting out some great looking stuff, and the fact that they're using a lot of Mercedes engineering can only make the cars better.

That is an american car that I would buy. It accelerates as fast as a Corvette, and I think it actually has some style. I hope that the supercharger makes it into production.
