Read this before aksing for help with your car.

OK, so we have a bunch of people here who know a lot about cars, a lot who don't know as much, and probably some who think they know more than they do. Keep in mind that any advice you get can come from any of these groups, and that you shouldn't do anything to your car without knowing what you're doing.

Quote:
In many cases, bad advice wont hurt anything worse than the wallet, but given that cars travel at speeds that can kill, it behooves us, I think, to make sure that we are NOT offering advice that might get someone hurt.
...
"A car that wont start cant hurt you, but a car that wont stop almost certainly will." We need to be sure that we put this thought in the minds of our members: that they could concievably contribute to the injury or death of someone else if they give bad advice, and as such, should be VERY careful about what advice they offer.
Having said that, if you're going to ask for help with your car, ther is some stuff that you should tell us. This is what was suggested by Sion, who suggested the creation of these guidelines:

Include in your post:

Year
Make
Model (and trim line)
Engine type
Transmission type
Drivetrain configuration (FWD, RWD, 4WD, AWD)
Number of doors, options, etc.
Any modifications that you have made to the car

What did you do immediately before the problem started?

Remember, more info is better than less, and too much can't hurt, it can only help us help you.

If you are a certified mechanic, PM me, and I'll put you on a list at the end of this thread.
