I disagree with the Accord Coupe looking sharp. I think it look hideous...but that's just my opinion. It used to be that the Accord Sedan was a conservatively styled, yet attractive car. Nothing extravagant about it, just practical. Now, there is still nothing fancy about it, but now it looks bad too! For the same money, give me a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, or better yet, a Bonneville, and it's a bigger car!!!

i really liked the 98-02 accord coupes. The new Accord V6 engines are pretty nice, and you can get stick too (on the coupe). But i don't really like the front ends, the hood looks a little bulbous and the headlights are somewhat strange to me. The back of the coupe is pretty cool though, but the sedan rear end is sorta buicky. Hey, and at least Hondas aren't as frumpy as Toyotas. The only young person car Toyota has is the Celica, and maybe the Matrix, but older people buy those too.
I would buy a Mazda 6 with a V6 and stick, or maybe a TSX since it seems to be a spiritual successor of the prelude. |

It's not the lowering so much but the fart cannons and gigantic wings that make them look ridiculous.
Hondas are the best you can get if you just want a car to get you from point a to point b. Personally I think that's a waste of money and a car should be more than just a means to an end but whatever. |

[Sarcasm]Hondas suck, i smoked one in my stang the other day [/sarcasm]
I think the new V6 Accords are awesome, 240 hp + 6 speed gearbox = . I think that the coupes will probably run low 14s+. From many testimonies, it seems like they will last you a life time, if you just take care of it minimally, i've heard many stories of them lasting past 200k miles w/ only the battery dying. |

I drive an Accord and like it a lot.
My previous car was a Grand Am, and before I totalled it, it was always in the shop. It had to have a new tranny put in at 75k and numerous other repairs during the time I had it. The Accord has been in the shop a few times, but always for something small.. I think the only "repair" that was over $100 was getting it re-aligned, but nothing has really gone wrong with it yet. It's an older model ('96), and just a 4 banger, but I like it a lot and ideally would like to get a V6 EX when I'm settled down an able to afford a nicer car. My car is by no means a race car, but I drive fast and find it to be very reponsive and stable.. It's acceleration leaves something to be desired, but that's to be expected from a 4 cylinder I guess. That and I don't like to punch it for fear of damaging the engine.. Very neat car though. The Grand-Am was all kinds of trouble, but the Accord has pretty much made me a Honda customer from here on out. I've heard about their reliability and life for awhile, but after driving and owning one for over a year, I can honestly say that so far things are looking good. |

My friend bought an 02 accord I believe it's the fourbanger...but I have to say this about it...I love the 4 cylinders from a mechanics standpoint....so super easy to work on...to bad the parts are pricey...but thats why they are made to last...

Good point. Toyota is in the same catagory as Honda. They make cars that run forever but they have no personality. They just like to copy what other car makers do. I like car designers who push it to the edge. Cars have soul. |

i think honda accords are great cars. just great overall with a great price. the only thing i don't like about the new accord is the look, i think it looks a bit ugly compared to the older ones.
the v6s do make 240 hp but they don't exactly tear it up in the quarter mile. i have a friend who owns one and ran low to mid 15s at low altitude with a manual 03 accord coupe that was completely stock. but it really doesnt matter, the accord is not a sports car and it provides plenty of power for a car of its class. |

I'm talking NO maintenance costs, EVER. After over 93,000 miles. Besides your normal oil changes and routine maintenance, that car has NEVER failed once. Now, tell me the name of any American made car that can do that. |

Short of oil change tires alignments etc... it's lasted and I'm not even the original owner so I have no idea how this thing was treated before I got it. If you take care of any car it will last. |

On one side you have car enthusiasts... on the other side you have car owners. An enthusiast sees a car as more than four wheels and an engine. The car owner is interested only in the practical aspects of the vehicle. Which is perfectly fine but the two sides will never see or fully understand a car the way another person sees it. Case in point...cars with souls are kept alive endlessly by enthusiasts. The same year your car was built a Mustang from that same year 20 years from now will have other enthusiasts clamoring for it. In 20 years even if your Honda is still running fine nobody would want it. It would end up in the crusher. Last edited by Lockjaw; 10-12-2004 at 11:37 AM.. |
