This car was actually a FIAT design that was built under license in several countries, including Germany, Poland, and Yugoslavia. Hence the Italian name "Isetta" on a BMW.

We were actually looking around for one, but even the total junk is outrageously priced. We were thinking of making an SPL car out of one.

my only question is...WHY? that thing is a piece of shit, especially coming from BMW. that thing reminds me of the Steve Urkel's crap mobile.

How coincidental! While vacationing in Santa Fe last week, I saw a guy driving one of these around. Looked like a great way to get around the inner city, but there is no way it would work well (safely) on the highway.
