Looking for a Celica "Streaker"
Okay, this might be a birthday present for my mom. Back in the day, her first little sports car (she owned Camaros and T-Birds, but never one with stick before this one) was a Toyota Celica "Streaker". It was a really special car for her, and I would like to be able to get one for her "Golden Years" of retirement.
First, can anyone post pics? I'd love to see what this thing looks like. Secondly, does anyone know where I could find one? It's a late 70's car, I think, so it might be rare. Mostly, I want pics, so that, if I can't find one, I can have a kit made. Thanks for your help, guys! **Okay, now the funny story on how she got the car. She had originally bought a normal Celica. Car turned out to be a lemon (remember, it was before the Lemon Law). When she went back to the dealer, they wouldn't do anything. So, being the person that she was, my mom threatened to drive her car through the dealer's showroom window. In fact, she actually went so far as to get into the car and start it up. Finally, they relented, and gave her the top trimline new car. When she got in it, she calmly asked the dealer "Okay, thanks for the car...now teach me how to drive stick". God, she was bitchy...still is...but she's my mom. |

hey,
I know quite a bit about all makes and models of celicas, but I have never heard of a "streaker". You said it was a 79, and I am fairly sure in 79 there were only two models, the base model and the GT model. that would have been the second generation of celica. The only thing I can think of that would come close is in the third generation and it was a celica "sunchaser". Very rare 3rd generation celica convertible. Hope this helps, message me if you have any questions. |

I know this post is years old, but if helps anyone....
In 1982 I bought a 1974 Toyota Celica. It was a dark green coupe (not a liftback), and it had a white tape stripe running around it, just above the beltline. On the trunk (boot) lid, at the right, appeared the word "Streaker" in highly stylized type. There were no other references to "Streaker" in the owner's manual or on the inside of the car, or anywhere else. Other than the one I owned, I have never seen another "Streaker" Celica. If anyone is in need of more info about this car, contact me at todd.hakala_typicalsymbol_gmail.com (address current as of April 9, 2007) and I will try to answer any questions that you have. Sorry, I have no photos of the vehicle, dumb me. But I will try to help you out if I can. It may be years before anyone runs across this message. It would help me to remember that I posted it if you could copy and paste this message into your question. Thanks! Last edited by Toddhak; 04-08-2007 at 09:51 PM.. |
