Merc E55
Guys, my boss just got a brand new Merc E55. I went for a drive in it tonight (even without the boss) I had about a 15 minute drive. And I gotta say what a awesome car, man that thing is unreal. I can get over how much power and torque that thing has, It has competely blown my mind. And not only is it farkn fast but so smooth and plush. That car has set such a high bench mark for me. Its gonna be a long long time before anything comes close. Well I just had to have a brag, dude I am so hard about that car...........

I LOVE Mercedes-Benz, and the E55 is certainly one of mine.
My all-time favorite, though, is the S55 AMG, because it's S-Class luxury with ridiculous power. (178mph top speed in a sedan...yeah baby) |

This is why I'm looking into buying a SL55.
Can you imagine a convertible going at 170mph? I can't wait...

I'm a BMW owner, '95 M3, if I had the scratch to be shelling out 80g's for a new car, sure as hell woulden't be an E55. I'd go M5 or an Audi RS6. (Most people don't even know what an RS6 is)
Probably the M5, not a better car on the road then a Bimmer. I love the styles of the RS6 though, be a tough choice. I'd even pickup a 7-Series BMW before buying an E55. *waves to the fellow Bimmer owners* Last edited by Kurant; 08-24-2003 at 09:56 PM.. |

yeah I gotta somewhat agree with you, the RS6 is a really nice car. I do really like the RS4 too. Being a hot hatch fan, the RS4 really does it for me. Its a shame that oz only got 30 (i think it was 30?) But I would have one for sure..

Check out the upcoming Cadillac CTS-V. It outperforms both the M3 & the M5 (until the new 500hp M5 comes out). Also check out the new MB SL65. The stats on that car will amaze you...

I have a good friend that works for a BMW dealership...so i get to ride around in most of their cars...
So far, i've ridden in 760Li's, AC Schintzer 745i, E46 M3 Cabriolet, Z4 3.0, E39 540i's and 540iT's, X5 4.4i's, Mtech 330i, and a used Porsche Boxster the dealership had. The Dealership also has a brand new facelift E500, and i have to say, its a nice car by looks, I really prefer it over the 5 series. I see a lot of E55's where i work, and, yeah, they're nice...but expensive... its a tough choice between an E39 M5, an E55, or dumping an extra 30,000ish into an S6 |

Keyser,
As you sell Mercs, should I buy a SL55 now, or wait for a redesigned one (didn't someone mention a SL65?)? Is Mercedes coming out with a new superroadster?

Get the SL55 now. The new one they have coming out won't really be available for another year or so and it's the SLR.
The body won't be changing for a looooong while now The 55 is a SWEEEEEEET machine. DO NOT get the one with the panorama roof. They are having to many problems with it rattling and making noises. How much can you get one for where you are??

Without the panorama and tire-pressure monitor (I had it on my old BMW...hated the damn thing) I can get one for about 135k. I think that's about average, no?
What's the panorama roof? How can you make a convertible any more panoramic?

If you're buying new 135 is a good number but there is always one out there that is less expensive. If you're buying used you can find them cheaper with usually low miles on them, we get them all the time.
The panorama roof is a tinted glass roof. This way you can see through the roof when the top is up ...to bad it rattles though.

The Caddy V did not outperform the M5 (current or new). The thing isn't out on the streets yet, so whatever performance numbers are known, they're coming from Caddy themselves.
And going back to the original discussion -- I heard that Merc is coming out with an E62, over 500 hp to match the new M5. And then there were two . . . |
