why no recirc button in most domestic cars
we own a civic and a mercedes (an old one, not a new one) i've noticed that when i rent an american car they seldom have a recirculation button. it sucks on california highways to have the AC on and to be breathing in all the exhaust from cars around you.
why don't american cars all have the option of recirculation buttons? |
Erm, in every american car I've been in, it's had it. Perhaps you're confused? "Max" (often labeled "Max A/C") is recirc.
well what the hell! why didn't anyone tell me. i thought max AC was just more powerful AC. thanks.
i'm terrifically sorry for my lack of intelligence. it figures. it took me 20 years of listening to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds before I figured out the LSD connection. duh. |
you didn't RTFM? all major rental cars cos have the manuals in the glove box.
i actually did read the manual. i couldn't figure out how to do the wipers at first (it has like 10 different functions/feature) just didn't think about looking in the index for recirc.
yah american cars are screwy on labeling....and for some reason chevy's dont have a head/feet option on the controls...its some damn bi-level warming/cooling crap....
Re-circ doesn't do much w/o a cabin filter.I love to use mine when I see a roadkill skunk coming up!
Wow thats true. I never realized that but now that I think about it max ac is only in domestics...
I never realized recirc and max air were the same thing.... huh...
I always just hit the recirc button... Now that I think about it all my American cars had a recirc button... Chevy Cavalier, Chevy Beretta and Ford Explorer. |

i have a 2002 Altima 3.5 and I have a max A/C and a recirculate button. My max A/C is colder.
Hah never knew max AC was recirc... but I guess that makes sense, since if you are recirculating the air it makes it a lot easier for the AC system to cool already cooler air than hot outside air... good job guys :-D
And my car stereo goes to "11".

Good movie reference micah67... very good...
