ElwoodBlues 07-17-2003 07:30 PM

I don't think its horrible. I like the front, maybe if the taillights went more with the shape of the trunk it would look better

Halx 07-17-2003 07:54 PM

Are you shittin me?!?

That is BITCHIN!

I WANT!

Jeff 07-17-2003 09:49 PM

yeah, I was disappointed with the new M5. They used to be so bad-ass looking. They seem too refined. They were also designed by the same guy who designed the current 7 series which didn't seem to please many people.

drawerfixer 07-17-2003 09:59 PM

The front end looks like the new Pontiacs. :( The rear end just looks dumb. I wouldn't reject one though. Yumm @ BMW's V8 and paddle shift.

acpower 07-18-2003 12:33 AM

the taillights seem to only blend with the trunk but the rest of the rear doesn't.... kinda weird... nice interior though.. love the shifter

bastit 07-18-2003 12:36 AM

god i love BMW's, i'm poor i can only afford a 96' 318ti...its sad

blackthunder 07-18-2003 01:33 AM

the back end is bad ass. the profile view aint bad, but the front end is ass.

0001 07-18-2003 06:23 AM

This one, I like. The tailights are kinda weird tho, true.. but still... I like it.

thadon 07-18-2003 10:55 AM

I love the 1988 BMW M6 so I am glad they brought back the 6 series.

Then in 2005 we will be blessed w/ a 500hp v-10 BMW M6.

Now that is the shit

Booty Man 07-18-2003 11:21 AM

I don't think it's bad at all. Much better than the new 5.

rodgerd 07-18-2003 12:35 PM

Yuk. That's hideous. It looks like it came out of a Detroit design studio, and not in a good way.

First the iDrive, now crappy external design. BMW are going downhill fast...

ElwoodBlues 07-18-2003 08:19 PM

have there been any released photos of the new M5?

Tech 07-18-2003 10:52 PM

i love it. most sweet is the roofline gives it a very sleek feel. it doesn't LOOK like a sedan

pkeigs 07-19-2003 01:12 PM

I like it but I hate the new 5 series. The old ones were so attractive to the eye but the new ones are just a little to boxy. Would still take one but most people probably would...

Pkeigs

ninety09 07-19-2003 01:31 PM

That car has nice curves, very sexy.

strife 07-19-2003 01:57 PM

I don't think it's all that bad. I think it looks a lot like a Aston Martin Vanquish. Well, maybe not a lot, but I think they have some similiarities.

WarWagon 07-19-2003 02:00 PM

I like the front, dont mind the interior, HATE the back. The back of that is godawful fugly.

Heh, looks like yet another car has stolen the roofline of the Infiniti/Z car.

mastertakana 07-19-2003 03:11 PM

dude that is not ugly at all. I admit it is very different, but that dont makes it uglies.

mastertakana 07-19-2003 10:33 PM

you know something....it looks like a porsche from the side

brandon11983 07-20-2003 08:24 AM

When I looked at the first pic, I didn't like. All others... that is a bad ass car. I'd take it over a Grand Am GT anyday..... Lets hope they make it available with a true manual transmission, SMG would probably be fun to drive, but nothin like a real stick. And I also hope they got the i-Drive system working better.

SweetVroom 07-20-2003 02:21 PM

Chris Bangle should be shot, and then ran over with a 7-Series.

Cynthetiq 07-21-2003 06:18 AM

finally revealed.. eh.. it's eh... i'm going to wait to see it on the street and see what it looks like in different colors.

the 7 series doesn't look so bad in certain colors... maybe this will be the same.

DAM 07-21-2003 09:37 PM

wheels are kinda whack, but i like it other than that

kajagoogoo 07-22-2003 06:10 AM

convertible baby!

Scorps 07-22-2003 07:28 AM

They stole it from Pontiac

I say run him over with the new Z4, 5, and 6 series. BMW has definitely lost their styling.

bdb 07-22-2003 09:41 PM

I love it and at ~50K for the base model I may get one to replace my 330i

versnatch 07-22-2003 10:38 PM

i think that looks great, cant wait to see more of that one.

I disagree. I love this. The M6 will be... drool...

Bangle did a horrible job on the 5 and 7 series though. I liked them the way they were. And I still like m-b interiors better than BMW's, just has a better quality feel.

amge 07-23-2003 09:21 AM

At least it doesn't have the devil eyes headlight from the 5 series

marshall26 07-24-2003 12:17 AM

i say it's super hot and i want one

Recoil 07-24-2003 05:19 AM

NICE!

Wonder how it handles in the wind though....the camry has a similar 'trench' down the front and it almost gets blown off the road every time wind hits the car from the sides...

tomcat70 07-24-2003 05:51 AM

Awesome.... I want one!

troit 07-24-2003 06:22 AM

Do they sell these things in the States yet?

Dil 07-24-2003 06:46 AM

They are mega fugly

trigger123 07-24-2003 07:18 AM

As with all new radical designs (well, most at least) it will grow on you.

Stare At The Sun 07-25-2003 10:09 PM

^^The element and pt cruiser will never ever grow on me, nor will the aztek..

Mesmerize 07-25-2003 10:21 PM

This 6 looks great to me.

newman 07-27-2003 02:31 AM

Fugly. They screwed their own grill :\

I think it's a pretty damn fine car. i don't think I would drop the cash on it (even if I did have it to spare), but it's nice.

Moonduck 07-27-2003 01:38 PM

Front end does not look like a BMW =P

Cynthetiq 10-03-2003 01:28 PM

Finally here....BMW 6 Series

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/BMW/bmw_645i_04_07.jpg

With the introduction of the 2004 6 Series Coupe, an icon is reborn. BMW is not just continuing the heritage of the legendary original 6 Series (1977-1989), it is launching the modern expression of an icon, while paying homage to the company's long tradition of luxury coupes.

Much like the original, the new 6 Series Coupe will be noticed first for its looks. The styling is bold, purposeful, dynamic and elegant all at once. Its unique design with sleek and flowing lines, all supplemented by the harmony of elegant surfaces, gives the new 6 Series its unique character. With its smooth and powerful engine, its outstanding agility and abundant interior space, the new BMW 645Ci will set new standards in the luxury sports coupe market on many fronts.

A New Sports Car With Exciting Proportions

The 6 Series Coupe excels in its classic proportions - the car is long, low and wide. It projects an aura of strength and self-confidence. The passenger cabin has a very low roofline and is set back on the chassis.

The modern design language of the exterior continues smoothly and consistently throughout the interior. Similar to the new 5 Series, all the driving controls are located directly on or around the steering wheel. All comfort functions, in turn, are within easy reach from both front seats for convenience. The new 6 Series, again like the original, will not only be admired for its style but will also be recognized as a driver's car of the first order.

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/BMW/bmw_645i_04_01.jpg

BMW's Heralded 4.4-liter V8 Offers Performance That Matches Its Style

The 4.4-liter V8 engine already well known from the BMW 745i ensures optimal power and torque over the entire engine speed range. Featuring fully variable VALVETRONIC valve control, the engine develops 325-horsepower and 330 lb-ft of powerful torque at 3,600 rpm. This enables the new 6 Series Coupe to effortlessly reach its top speed of 149 mph (electronically limited). Acceleration is equally good, with the BMW 645Ci covering the sprint from 0-60 mph in well under six seconds.

To convey this refined power to the rear wheels, BMW offers the driving enthusiast the widest range of possibilities-three different six-speed transmissions:

* Six-speed manual
* Six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic
* Six-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) featuring both a gearshift lever and shift paddles on the steering wheel, like in Formula One race cars

The new 6 Series Coupe comes standard with BMW Driving Dynamic Control (DDC). First seen on the Z4 Roadster, this feature gives the engine an even more spontaneous reaction to the gas pedal, influences steering in relation to road speed, allows the automatic or SMG transmission to hold gears longer, and provides faster SMG shifts - all at the touch of a button.

Remarkable Agility Ensured By Intelligent Lightweight Engineering

Consistent use of intelligent lightweight technologies makes a significant contribution to the outstanding driving comfort and high level of agility for which the new 6 Series Coupe will become well known. This class-leading agility is the result of the innovative combination of aluminum, steel and synthetic materials throughout the body. The front section of the car is significantly lighter than steel thanks to lightweight construction. The targeted weight reduction continues throughout - the trunk lid is composite, the hood and doors are aluminum and the front fenders are thermoplastic. All this contributes to a base weight in European trim of 3528 lb with, of course, weight distribution close to the perfect ratio of 50:50. This consistent reduction of weight ensures not only performance befitting a sports car and exceptional agility, but it also contributes to an outstanding level of fuel economy.

Handling and Responsiveness: The Synergy of Aluminum Suspension and Cutting Edge Technology

The lightweight all-aluminum suspension of the new 6 Series Coupe keeps unsprung weight to a minimum. Also working to the driver's advantage are myriad control systems such as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). All 6 Series Coupes feature BMW's Active Roll Stabilization, which almost completely eliminates body roll. Part of the Sport Package in the U.S. will be BMW's unique Active Steering, which electronically varies the degree to which the front wheels turn in relation to steering input from the driver. Under normal driving conditions at low and medium speeds, the steering ratio becomes more direct, which causes the front wheels to turn more in relation to the steer wheel. This enhances the car's performance in city traffic, when parking or in curves. At higher speeds, the steering ratio becomes more indirect, which causes the front wheels to turn relatively less in relation to the steering wheel, offering greater directional stability. Active Steering works hand in hand with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) by monitoring the yaw rate and changing the steering angle accordingly. This reduces the number of DSC interventions and thus offers optimum control comfort for the driver and passengers.

In addition to all the safety features characteristic of a BMW, the new 6 Series Coupe utilizes run-flat tires, allowing the driver to continue for a certain distance even when a tire is completely flat. Adaptive Headlights, which enhance visibility, illumination, and improve the driver's field of nighttime vision, are also available as an option.

Other Features Include Head-Up Display and Glass Panorama Roof.

The standard glass panorama roof gives the interior an even more spacious and brighter feel, especially since the panorama roof is much larger than a conventional moonroof. It offers a vent feature and an electric sliding roofliner.

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/BMW/bmw_645i_04_02.jpg

The Head-Up Display technology, available as an option for the new BMW 6 Series at a later date, is truly unique in the large coupe market. This feature ensures optimum clarity and allows the driver to concentrate on the road ahead at all times by presenting relevant information directly in the driver's line of vision, on the windshield. Also available is Active Cruise Control (ACC). Last but certainly not least, the optional Logic7 audio system gives the car's occupants a level of audio quality previously only offered by high-end home entertainment systems.

In terms of spaciousness, the new BMW 6 Series measures 189.8" in length, 73.0" in width and just 54.1" in height to offer ample interior space that is quite remarkable for a sports car. As a 2+2-seater, the BMW 6 Series gives the two rear seat passengers ample freedom of movement, and the large luggage compartment offers space comparable to many sedans.

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/BMW/bmw_645i_04_03.jpg

Crafted in Dingolfing, Germany, this spectacular new 6 Series will be available for sale in the U.S. market in Spring 2004, after making its debut at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September of 2003.

The new BMW 6 Series Coupe will be followed, for the first time, by a second body style: a 2+2 convertible model.

I was hoping that it would look alot nicer than this... but it's been bungled and Bangled....I'm thinking that the convertible version won't be much more to look at either.

Jonny123 10-03-2003 02:56 PM

I beg to differ.

BMW has done it, again. That car is A work of art...beautiful lines on that thing!!! I think BMW has done an exceptional job of advancing their styling while still staying true to their signature design characteristics.

God damn do I love german autos....they just do it SOO right - inside, outside...everything is covered. Good post though mang!

drawerfixer 10-03-2003 03:06 PM

I think it looks really good until you get to the trunklid. It just seems awkward IMO.

sixate 10-03-2003 03:12 PM

I think the car is butt ugly.
I hate it.
BMW needs to get rid of their GM design team or something.
The interior has grown on me and is sexy as hell, but the car is just soo fucking ugly I think I'm gonna vomit. http://www.boomspeed.com/sixate/puke.gif

hmmm...funny how opinions can differ so much. The rear of the car is what actually hits me as the best looking part of the exterior.

Potato, pototo. :)

Peryn 10-03-2003 07:33 PM

i think it looks pretty smooth. I like it, and i think it will offer good performance and luxory without the weight and size (i didn't realy look at the dimensions at all...) of the 7 series. I think that maroon color and those rims are pretty gross looking though. I just wish they had brought back teh 8-series instead though. Ohwell, this will definately sell better than teh 8's would have.

Craven Morehead 10-03-2003 08:46 PM

beautiful lines, don't even mind the trunk lid

I want it

Cynthetiq 10-04-2003 04:54 AM

Kurant 10-04-2003 05:55 AM

Looks kinda masarati'ish.

soccerchamp76 10-04-2003 01:37 PM

I like Bangle's new designs. I think so far it has been hit or miss.

aryan 10-04-2003 03:40 PM

It looks BAAAAADDDDD..... Nice car

johan 10-09-2003 08:30 AM

Awesome.... I want one!

bundy 10-10-2003 02:47 AM

i think thats the best looking decent-sized BMW i´ve seen for a while.
i really like that interior... its still quite subtle for such a technological machine.

kris 10-10-2003 07:54 PM

i like that car, but i'm not too fond of the Z4, even though they both seem to have similar curves.

Deuce66 10-10-2003 08:37 PM

I guess I like it, but it looks nothing like a BMW, which upsets me...they even ruined the grill, which has always stayed similar through model changes =(

a1t3r3g0 10-12-2003 08:24 AM

I coulda sworn I replied in this thread already, but..

That car is HOTT!!! I can't see what a lot of you are complaining about, I think every inch of that car is beautiful, including the interior!

a1t3r3g0 10-12-2003 08:50 AM

Oh, and if anyone is interested, I made a background really quick from some of the pictures. Here's a little preview:

madsenj37 10-12-2003 12:42 PM

Its much better than the old 6 series which was one cool car for its time.

ace81385 10-13-2003 05:05 PM

They ruined the new BmW the 2002 5 series is sick and so is the 3 series i dont like the new look for the 5 and 6 series

electric9 10-26-2003 05:48 PM

thats fuckin awsome lookin

User Name 10-27-2003 03:41 PM

The back looks like the one from the old Porsche 911, which is a euphemism for "bad".

Captain Canada 10-28-2003 12:18 PM

I think that looks AWESOME.

-Ever- 11-12-2003 01:19 PM

Needs different rims. Think the car is nice but the rims are different than anything I can remember BMW ever using...

Grondar 11-12-2003 01:22 PM

I don't like how the trunk and rear has the lights cut off suddenly.

It looks especially stupid from the sideview.

I have to say, I LOVE the interior shot, I think it would be very relaxing. The exterior does not appeal to me at all though, what were they thinking?

keif 11-13-2003 03:03 PM

just because its a bmw... i like it

Esoteric 11-13-2003 04:15 PM

I think it's nice, I wouldn't mind one that's for sure.

supafly 11-14-2003 01:28 AM

Don't like the front or the back.

Scorps 11-14-2003 07:06 AM

UGLY, but every car industry can't have all nice models

yellowgowild 11-15-2003 08:25 PM

It's right on the edge of being perfect. If they made the front a little longer and higher it would be in better proportion.
