Options for getting rid of my motorcycle?
Ok... this is the story... I over-paid a bike mechanic for a 1982 Kawasaki CSR750... ($1100). I figured it would be a good first bike as I wanted to get my license... WELL, I wound up buying a truck... trading it in on a new car.. and that's about the end of it. Now I have a motorcycle I don't ride that is collecting dust and I think I will be lucky to get $500 for it... ($600 is what I'm currently asking). What advice or options does anyone have to get rid of it? I don't need the bike and if I can't sell it soon I'm probably gonna donate it for a tax write-off (if possible)...
Just gimme some ideas.. thanks! |
Stick it in the paper now. Since its starting to warm up outside, now is a great time to try to sell something like a motorcycle.

if you lived closer, i would buy it...
but your best bet now is to just put an ad in the local swapper. |
The newspapers and http://www.cycletrader.com would be your best bet.
I think ebay would be a bad idea. 1st thing, if you seperated it for parts it would take you months if not years to sell all those parts for an uncommon motorcycle. 2nd, if you do put it on ebay, you will have people wanting you to ship it, which would probably be more trouble than it's worth ( especially at a $500 price tag) All else fails, I would hold on to it. You never know if you want to get back into a hobby. I sold a classic car at a major loss and have regretted it ever since. |
EBAY IT
Have you thought about ebay? I'm there everyday just looking at bikes and if it is in good condition it will sell. You may even be surprised at what you get for it.
And as BooRadley suggested Cycletraders is also an excellent resourse for getting rid of your bike. But honestly.... don't get rid of it you'll regret it down the road. |
I think your best bet would be to give it to me...I really need a bike, I've had my license for over a year, and no bike for me. How sad is that :(

If you really didn't care about how much money you were to get from it, you could psuh it off of a cliff for great fun.

E-Bay Use E-Bay
|
I vouch for the ebay thing....make an extremely good listing with lots of pics and make sure you say buyer picks up.
|
dont count out cycletrader, my friend bought a bike for like 500 bucks and sold it for 700
|
ebay it or sell it to a kid for the same purposes that you wanted to buy it for.

I drove from Oklahoma to Denver, Colorado to pick up my bike. I found it in cycletrader.com. You need to get it out to a wide audience.
