My buddy's Skyline is in the 2011 Motor Trend International Auto Show in Baltimore right now:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rs/skyline.jpg My next door neighbor blew the motor in his 260Z a few months ago so now my friend who did a lot of custom fabrication on my car is installing an RB26DETT in it ...should be peppy with that light weight: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...sZwithRB26.jpg |
Talk about timing... I just found this that you might enjoy:
(+ I love the earlier generation Skylines, '94-'99) |
did you ever see the vid of Leh Keen driving a GT-R at VIR? ...the man can drive!

do you think my 91 SE-R qualifies as a baby GT-R ?

I don't picture the Nissan engineers saying "hey, let's turn our brains off and forget everything we know about high performance and then design this SE-R..." |
for the 3 years it was made (91-93) it was voted one of the ten best cars in the world by R/T,,,,pocket rocket...best bang for the buck division !!!

Additionally, you need to remark to your friend that his auto is supremely attractive (from me). Love it. Has it been upgraded both aesthetically, as well as functionally (performance)? Have you come to post your own "bad boy" yet, BadNick? |

I snuck a pic of mine in right after your Cobra postings since it was parked next to a Cobra at the track. |

To continue (and the seize the opportunity towards) a tangential discussion here, exactly what entails your process towards maintenance, performance-modifications, and upgrades in regards to your baby (re: Supra)? You've mentioned it before, but eactly how long have you had the car? Can you actually count the number of times you've modified it - built it up, tore it back down, made it stronger? Do you have a general interval of time when you check it, to see if its still a competitive auto? Also, this may be completely superficial, but have you coated the paint radically different over the years, or has it generally remained the static "default" car colour? (I wonder how many times you've actually outlined the historical journey you and your car(s) have taken over the years.) |
Jet, I take it you don't think my "auto biography" would be OT in your thread here so I'll write one up in the next day or so, illustrated with a few photos.
Btw, in your "autos + waves" post above, I owned a '72 Karmann Ghia convertible way back when. It was a cute little car and fun to drive as long as you didn't need/want more than just adequate power and handling. |
What does OT mean? (opportunity towards, eh? - oh... or, on-topic?)
Anything's on-topic here so long as it relates in part to automotive structure, design and appreciation. I really like conversations and getting to the point of other things by asking questions, though it seems I've cocooned myself into the habit that by posting anything of content, with enough details, specs and leeway, that just by chance, someone else will get the discussion started so I don't always have to come up with the next talking point. I'm not very good at it. So, with that long type-as-you-think statement of mine, feel free to drum up anything personal of yours, anecdotes, stories, motor diaries, or just run a long list of every car you've ever driven in order to further whatever was the original cause to this theme (you were the inspiration for it). -- (to note: Hell, I try to set aside the opportunity to post AUTO-erotica every Friday, whenever I remember to is the caveat, by just posting a neat portrayal of a lovely lass alongside a little humdinger of a car. Whatever gets the juices flowing. So again, feel free to post your subsequent anecdotes trials and errors, and the exhiliration that goes with it, about your passion for automotives.) |

I'd like (verily) to shrink the growing backlog of 'in-waiting' posts I have for this theme, but if there's one thing I try in all that I do, it is to provide a helpful context.
So, I hope you don't mind if I slow down, and re-evaluate these few: (click to ENLARGE, click to VIEW / LEARN MORE) Quote:
