The Shelby Cobra Supersnake Club Racer (2006) [ivyleagueeast.] |
I have both a big soft spot and a big hard on for the old Cobras.
Here's my car flanked by a buddy's 289 Cobra and another friend's 360whp Mini. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...P8-5-08027.jpg |
Here's the Cobra trifecta:
http://i51.tinypic.com/2v1uoaf.jpg I saved this photo from flickr some 3-4 years ago, but it seems the owner/author of the above has been deleted from the database. I'll keep looking, however. |
Remember the Daytona Cobra? This was at the same track day from my post above:

I guess the Ffff! movement can extend into this foray as well.

Now that you mention ffff, how about the 9ff Gturbo 1200:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-10_800x0w.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Turbo-1200.jpg A bit over the top with this paint scheme, but a very well put together supercar nonetheless. Part 4 of this video is the full throttle demonstation and the "Whoh" part...just hold on and try to breath normally. |
Have you ever experienced an RUF rebuilt-Porsche? It is out of this world.
http://i53.tinypic.com/2588h90.jpg 1997 Porsche Ruf CTR2 Sport author's comments: (John Snell) Looks can be deceiving, this pleasant looking Porsche Ruf looks like a decently sporty car - but wait till you get behind the wheel of this incredible street legal Kevlar bodied monster... Oh, nice early Fall colors too. =) 580HP - 0-60 in 3.8 seconds - 217mph top speed! Need I say more? MORE |
I'm a boy of the 80's so I grew up loving the GM 'G-body'.
This is one of my favorite cars of the era - 1987 Buick Grand National :) http://caninesportsrec.com/100_0557.jpg |
I also love Grand Nationals. I came very close to buying one a couple years ago from a local guy who had three of them and was selling one.
Jet, when I think about a Porsche that I might buy in the near future, I keep looking at used Ruf Porsches. They are a huge blip on my radar screen. I just love how he integrates racecar features into a relatively civilized package that performs extremely well. One of my favorite cars of all time, a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Mille Miglia: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...iglia_34_3.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...0cars/29ee.jpg And then of course there is what is probably one of my favorite cars of all time, the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB. I came close to buying one in 1972 for $14,000, it was in very good condition but that was too much for me at the time. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...V-10-CC_01.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-10-MAL_01.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-06_PBI-01.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...V-10_CC_02.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...V-09-AP-01.jpg |
Perhaps I should feature some of the more prominent architects and designers of the Golden Age of Automotives. Two buts, though: this would feature a lot of words, a bio-post of several prominent penmans, yet I don't suppose that would matter much as the audience to this niche gallery, is well, still quite miniscule. The other half is, most of the names still rattling around in my head are the penmans of the Lamborghini Lines and the Romeo Curves, or in other words, the mustachio'd [Italian] automotive illustrators of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

American LaFrance special Speedster 1915 http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...3GBGVm_400.jpg Here's one for the man who thinks he's got it all already. ( he does'nt ) Check out this Hi Testosterone special ! This beautiful Special was built by Gary Wales in California utilising a American La France chassis from the early teens with chaindrive , combined with a beautiful seventeen liter marine engine built in 1915 by the famous company van Blerck , which built many engines for the wealthy to use in their speedboats , like the old Hackercrafts and such. It's like a car from a Jules Verne story ; I'm going to put a brass tag on it saying " cpt. Nemo " !! Out of this world and a true King of the Hill kind of car. And..something you can really drive , with the built in powersteering. It will stop as well with the disc brakes upfront. A real trafficstopper with a great sound and it's loads of fun ! FOR SALE...Price on request. American LaFrance special Speedster 1915 for sale - PreWarCar |
Probably my favorite Jaguar of all time, the XJ13.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...Xj13_front.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2.../Xj13_rear.jpg There is quite a bit of interesting history about the development of this car and the subsequent decision to not pursue it. 1966 JAGUAR XJ13 And this wiki article is just the tip of the iceberg Jaguar XJ13 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

(* -) What's that urban legend about Midnight Lambos going full-speed on the highway with the lights turned off at 2 in the AM, in order to avoid detection from Johnny Law, all the while smuggling drugs from destination A (Miami) to destination B (Connecticut)? Have you heard of this one? I think it's fairly widespread. Oh, I nearly forgot the most important part: (other than the quarter-of-a-million automobile that is tantamount to this story) night-vision goggles! |

I was 9 years old when this car came out and I immediately fell in love with it. It's still one of my favorite cars of all time.
