I love thinking about my first car. It was a '67 Jag E-Type Roadster that I bought for myself two weeks after I graduated from college, because I always wanted one.
DaveOrion, I can relate to your big Buick, too, since not much later I bought a '65 Buick LeSabre as a daily driver to save the Jag for nicer days. Not as big as the '76 but a real nice land yacht of that era. It still smelled new, had 33k miles on it and cost me $600. |

My dad had a 1968 Ford F-150, and the engine blew. He made me help him put a new engine in it and restore it somewhat, and let me have it.
When we were done at age 15 for me, he let me do whatever I wanted with it. Like a stupid young kid and my dad telling me NO! I SOLD IT! I regret it to this day. And have you it looked almost identical to the one below but all black. ![]() |

thanks for jogging my memory, gg. Mine was a roadster aka convertible exactly like this one:
![]() ![]() Btw, I purchased my Jag for $2200. Lucky for me that was at the all time historic low point in the pricing/value of that car. It had 30k miles on it, perfect condition. Now that car is worth about $70k. |

Wow, you found quite a deal, BadNick! When I was a little girl, one of my neighbors had a green jag that looked very similar to yours. It looked like so much fun to drive.

gg,
the E-type is a fantastic car to drive and I like to think I mostly appreciated it for such technical reasons. Jaguar E-Type - Features, Motoring - The Independent But I read a lot of what Henry Manney wrote since he was one of the greatest automotive journalists ever and one of my favorite sayings of his is: "The greatest crumpet-catcher known to man," as US journalist Henry Manney described it. |
