Had my NSX painted. Pics during/after
I don't post much here these days, but I hope some of y'all will enjoy this.
My poor old NSX has been looking kind of raggedy lately. Little stone chips all over the front end, some cracked clear-coat on the rear bumper, numerous little scratches on the spoiler and roof panel, remnants of long-ago bug spats on the rear view mirrors. It was time for paint. On July 20, I dropped my car off for fresh paint and on August 20 I brought it home. It looks terrific and I'm delighted to have it back! Here are some pics . I went to visit it and take pictures every Saturday. Here is the first Saturday. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0666.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0671.jpg Second Saturday. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0694.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0696.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0703.jpg Third Saturday. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0719.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0726.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0727.jpg Forth Saturday. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0749.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0753.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0763.jpg And the last day. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0770.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0771.jpg This is my happy face, I'm getting my car back! http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0780.jpg That night I took it for a little cruise out the the beach. Got to see a great sunset and managed to beat the rain coming home. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0787.jpg http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0797.jpg Sunset in the rear-view. Right where it ought to be. :) http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0790.jpg Then of course on Friday it rained like hell while I was at work. Lost its rain cherry in less than a day. That's okay, it cleaned right up when I got home. http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d...2/DSC_0812.jpg All of the Before/During/After pictures can be found here. Repainting the NSX Later! |
damn... nice
did the paint have enough time to cure before the rain? also if you don't mind me asking... how much does a proper paint job like this cost? what were they doing with a welder in the front? wanna let me borrow that car for a few days? Ill let you borrow my bike... |
Ssssssswwwwwweeeeeeeettttttttah!!

The cost out the door (which included a new windshield, 1 inner fender liner, and a bunch of fasteners and seals) was just under $8K. Even so, the guy who did the work said he'd never do it again for that price. It took about 1 1/2 weeks longer than he expected. Quote:

must be one of those bigger chargers capable of just about starting the car... but those are usually on rollers <shrug>
looks a lot like a 110v MIG welder |
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!
|
It took a whole month?
Did you had them paint it the same color it was before? |
^^ Yup, one month on the dot. Same color as before. Changing colors would have been a whole other level of pain.

It looks Fabulous (with a captal F) and it makes me miss my Acura so much! Lot's of fun to drive, huh!?
They are great cars! I thank you for the before and after. |
Sweet car and paintjob...don't see too many of those around (here) anymore. I once heard the NSX described as a "a Ferrari, but engineered by people who went to college." How many miles on the car?

Gorgeous! I have always loved the NSX. Looks great!
|
That thing is getting to be "senior" yet it still looks like a brand new model. Amazing body design for its time, and still today. I love it.
|
looks new again...ready for the next 15+ years when it will still look and perform "up to date". Continued good luck with it.
|
Wow, what a sexy car!! I have always loved NSX's
Excuse me while I have a jealous fit over here. |
