2001 VW Citi Golf. First and only car I've ever owned. In fact, I technically don't own it now, as it's still in my mother's name. 190 000 km's on the clock and still going strong.

1. an '89 Dodge Dakota, which my dad sold after I got in a wreck and ripped off someone's rear bumper. I decided driving a truck with big metal fenders just wasn't for me.
2. an '89 Volvo 240, which I named Zippy, and sold. Wish I hadn't. I could still be tooling around in Zippy, getting 30mpg. My parents were the original owners, and it was in very good shape despite being possibly in need of a new transmission. 3. a '94 Volvo 940 wagon, which is named Baby but often referred to as the "Hot Box" in summertime, as the A/C is dead. I learned to drive on Baby. She is a lease return that my parents acquired around Mother's Day, 1996, and signed over to me a couple years ago. I will probably drive it until it dies. I have a lot of memories associated with that car.

1971 MG Midget MkIII. Tuned, re-trannied, with a virtually new suspension coupled with predictable brilliant hydraulic brakes and Lucas electrics. Ran like stink in the twisties. Wrecked, in spectacular fashion.
1999 Mistubishi Something-or-Other. Wholly unremarkable except for the fact that this vehicle managed to be even more maintainence-intensive than the Midget. That's right, spent more time and money fixing this thing than a British car! Sold for scrap after devouring 2 engines, 2 transmissions, and no less than -seven- flex-plates. 1989 Ponrtiac Grand Prix. Rubbish. Crashed twice, scarfed it's way through 3 alternators and most of an engine before giving up and being sold for scrap. 1994 Toyota Tercel. Battered, beaten, but never until the last moment broken, this little thing took everything I could throw at it. It handled almost as well as the Midget, neaded less maintainence than anything previous and, despite looking like a piece of moldy cheese, was actually fairly comfortable. 1998 Saturn Something-or-Other. Purple. Looked like a chick's car. Ran like a top, handled decently in the snow, sipped gasoline and purred its' way to Louisiana and back. Sold to a relative, who promptly destroyed it. 1999 Mercury Tracer. Brilliant little car, just like the Tercel which it basically is...until the rear suspesion rotted out. Soon to be sold for parts and scrap. 1988 Oldsmobile Thingamajig. Company car. Comfortable for long trips, but zero fun in the mountains. I want my manual transmissions back. |

^^ I dunno man, don't you think the problem is maybe the TIRES and not the make and model of cars? I've heard very good things about Explorer's and Expeditions manufactured between '95 and '02.

'?? Ford Escort...total crap car with no style whatsoever. gave it away. '71 convertible Karmann Ghia...loved it, lowerd it saved up to restore but but had to sell quick to get a down payment for.... '67 assembled convertible (what it says on the title)...this is a kit car of a '57 Porsche Speedster produced by the first company to do this. still have it, love it. 3 Golf MKII's loved them all, all were stolen and stripped. '86 CRX Si...incredible cheap car to own...stolen '85 Double Cab Vanagon truck current daily driver. love it. so, my current cars are a weird rear engine VW truck and the Speedster. just about perfect but I'd love to have more money to put into them.

1991 Chevy Corsica: kind of a piece of crap, bad paint, but was a cheap car to own. Drove it for 10 years.
1998 Chevy Malibu: Free car to replace the Corsica. Had to put about $1700 to fix all the problems with it at the time it was given to me and buy new tires and wheels for it. Driven it for 4 years now and other than needing a routine brake job and new tires it has been perfectly reliable, surprisingly enough for a car with a poor reliability reputation and 160,000 miles on it. |

'86 Yamaha XT350 I rode that bike everywhere. I think I put 20,000 miles on it in a year.
'79 Ford Fairmont - Bought for $300.00 it had bad rings and probably more Bondo than sheet metal. The motor finally let go while out on a date. '79 Mercury Cougar XR7 - ex-wife totaled it. '79 Mercury Monarch - Bought for $50. It had no reverse, I drove that car for 2 or 3 years before I sent it to the junkyard. '80 Ford Fiesta - Never did get that thing to run right...Major electrical issues. '84 Nissan Stanza - I loved that car, my ex-wife totaled it. '89 Geo Metro - I got burned when I bought this car...it had major mechanical problems. '84 Dodge Daytona - I loved this car '87 Dodge Colt - 4 engines and 2 transmissons later I sold it to a guy I worked with. '76 K5 Chevy Blazer w/ a 300 h.p. 350 c.i. and 35" tires. It had a camouflage paint job, headers, 3" dual exhaust with burnt out glass packs and a Gov-Loc rear end. I got into more trouble in that thing. I loved it! '93 Nissan Sentra - Great car. Great Mileage. Boring as can be. '04 Intrepid - My wife's car. It was a great car, she hated it, but we couldn't find anything bad to say about it other than it just wasn't her. Currently: '81 Chev. El Camino - Going to be my daughters car...eventually. I love my El Camino, it has a lot of history. (it was stolen from my parents, gone for 11-1/2 years, and they got it back in better condition than it was when it was stolen)It's gonna be hard to let her have it. '00 f150 4x4 Flareside - I love my truck. It has the Lariat package w/ all the bells and whistles, leather interior etc. Nicest vehicle I've ever owned. '06 Scion xB - This is the Wife's car. I didn't want to like this frigidaire on wheels, but it's a pretty sweet ride. She loves the thing, and finally understands my obsession w/ my truck. I imagine she'll keep this one for a while. |
