I just bought a brand new Lancer Evolution X GSR!
Last year I bought a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. I got a little tired of the 6-speed tranny and the springiness of the clutch so I looked at getting a brand new 2008 Lancer Evolution X. They had them for dirt cheap with Mitsubishi finance offerings so I went for it!!!!!! The Evo has always been my dream car and now I finally have it.
It's not only my dream car but it's also in my favorite color, Graphite Gray (gunmetal gray is what most call it). 291 horsepower/300 lbs of torque stock, AWD, 5-speed manual There is a local tuning shop that can dyno tune Evo Xs for $350 with the dyno printout and consistently adds 35-40 whp by simply adjusting the ECU. I am getting this done as soon as I save up the cash which will put it at 330ish horsepower.

Threads like this make me wish I didn't need two cars...I'm sure my monthly expenditure for the Fit and van are about the same as yours for this
Although, were I suddenly in a buying position, I have historically been more of the subaruvian persuasion...I know nothing about the current revision of either this or the STi, though.

Sweet ride!!
I've never seen an AWD on a dyno... must be a specialised setup.

I'm partial to the Mazdaspeed3, of course, and mine is "Metropolitan Gray Mica," which also happens to be my favorite car color.
I'm not a huge fan of the body style of the Lancer Evo. I test drove one once upon a time, and it just didn't work for me. I'll also probably never tire of the 6 speed hatchback, so it's all good.

When I bought my WRX I could have gotten a boring color like white, black, or gray. But I chose to stand apart from the masses and their dreary color scheme, which is why I went with world rally blue. I don't want to threadjack here, the GSR is a fine auto no matter what the color.

Well you all asked for it, get the kleenix ready to clean out your pants.
This is not the exact one, but close. The one I made an offer on has some slightly different, but still awesome features; such as: -Rust around the wheel wells -No fancy hubcaps, straight spoke kind, complete with bends and rust -A dent in the font bumper Yes you heard that right folks, and yes I will post pictures to steal TFP glory once I get it! |

I had a chance to race my brother's Neon SRT4 this weekend on a closed circuit track. We didn't do any real racing, just some drag racing from a dig and some rolling pulls as we had limited time.
I have a 2008 Evo X GSR. His SRT4 is stock, so is my evo. 0-60 I had him by 1.5-2 car lengths. 15 roll, 20 roll, we're dead even all the way to 100. 30-100 I win by half a car length. 40 roll, 50, 60 roll to 100 it is dead even. 70 roll I win by half a car length to 110ish. I used to own a SRT4 and I forgot how fast they were. Good god it surprised me. I'm really considering a tune now!

don't fret too much, the general consensus is that the X is a little slower straight on than the IX it replaces, but it's better in the corners and around a track. i have no doubt you'd beat the crap out of your brother in anything other than a straight line

Yeah there's something exhilarating about going around an on-ramp at 60 MPH.

Oh god. On-ramps and off-ramps. My bf also has a Mazdaspeed3. He took an off-ramp (with two really tight turns, s-curve, no less) at like 65 last weekend. I almost peed my pants.
I mean, I know my car's capable of that, and I'm pretty confident driving it.. but sheeeeeit it's different being in the passenger seat.

The MS3 is known for its excellent handling as well. There's a reason it keeps winning Car of the Year in its category!!

Indeed, I love the EVO X because it's the only car that can hang with my RX8 in corners. Just like the X lost some speed over the IX, so did the RX8 over the RX7. But boy can we have fun in corners.

Nice car.
It's undoubtedly faster than my Bronco...but my Bronco could probably roll over it.

Well the dealership wants $2,200 for the upgraded bigger spoiler for the Evo X before labor. My dad can get it for me for $1,900ish before labor. Today I found a guy on the Evo forums selling his big spoiler in the same color for $250. I hope I get to him first.........
