Fantasy Bidding on Ebay
Anyone else fantasizing about or watching car auctions on ebay?
I'm watching this 1969 Triumph GT6+, currently at $2100: http://i10.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/36/03/fbef_1.JPG Triumph : 1969 coupe - (eBay.ca item 120384758471 end time 06-Mar-09 11:20:46 EST) I think I would bet up to $4000 on it but then I don't know what the reserve is. |
I definitely do this. I was winning a 6-series BMW with like 4k miles on it @ $21k for four days. Luckily it went for $43k b/c I'd have never been able to pay

Damn, you've got balls my friend. How can you be sure you won't win? |
Christ, for that bank you would be so lucky if you did win. A 40K car for 21K, yeah buy it at 21K and sell it quick for 31K.
BTW, the sellers love you for bidding at the lower amount. Seriously, it drives up the price considerably when there is a lot of action in the bidding on an item. The people who are serious about the car raise and re-raise their bids more when they see a list of 10-15 bidders vs. just 1-2. My typical Ebay car search is much more mundane. I'm always looking for an original Honda CRX HF. Unfortunately, most on Ebay are from tuners/racers who have modded the crap out of the car and ruined it for what I want it for... high fuel economy. I had a 1991 HF in the late 90s that routinely got 50-52mpg. That is better than a Prius and almost as good as the Honda Insight. |
mmmmmmm droooool!!!
eBay Motors: Chevrolet : Corvette (item 170307509524 end time Mar-08-09 16:08:43 PDT) too bad its automatic... http://i22.ebayimg.com/05/i/001/30/86/9515_12.JPG I dont actually bid... but I do look... |
