G-Power pushes BMW M5 to 228 mph

The G-Power Huriicane RSThis could be the first speed record broken this year, with plenty more to come.

BMW tuner G-Power has taken the blazing-fast BMW M5 and added two superchargers, an intercooler, forged pistons and some other bits and pieces. The result is a 750-hp, 228-mph missile that topped the Brabus Rocket on the speed chart.

G-Power calls its car the Hurricane RS, and it made its record run on the ATP High Speed Oval in Papenburg, Germany.

G-Power developed the blown V10 engine with help from German supercharger manufacturer ASA. A picture of G-Power engine in BMW M5

The M5 gets a coil-over suspension, aero enhancements, a high-performance brake package and Michelin Pilot Sport SP2 tires to keep it steady at speed.

G-Power also optimized the fuel mapping to achieve the 750-hp mark. It says the superchargers could push more and the engine, as modified, could produce up to 900 hp.

The tuning kits are for sale from G-Power. The SK III conversion will push the output of your M5 to 730 hp for about $72,000. But if all you need is 600 hp out of your super sedan, you can opt for the anniversary kit for just less than $20,000. That is, of course, on top of the $85,000 you would pay for a 2009 BMW M5.

drool.................. i would love to have this car. i miss my z3.

The rims on this M5 are, however, a total pain in the a$$ to keep clean. Buy a lot of Castrol degreaser - the purple bottle, rags and be prepared to sit on your butt for a long time to keep these clean. Too many nooks and cranny's. i had similar rims in both of my z3's. bmw's create up a lot of nasty brake dust and grime that sticks to those rims like glue.

I have a merc E350 now. Compared to bmw, it's crap.

That must be the type of car that you measure gallons/liters of gas used per half mile.

Looks like quite a ride

dworkin31,
As far as keeping rims clean...if you still had this car/pad problem...dump the stock bimmer pads and get something better and easier to use. The last couple years I've been using a metal-ceramic brake pad...specifically Carbotech's XP10, and one of the nice things about them is that the dust is totally non-corrosive plus it is so easy to wash off; I use a wide super soft sable hair brush from the art supply store and mild dish detergent and it just rinses right off; then I cloth or blow dry the wheels and I'm done. The XP10's are not advertised to be compatible with "street tires" since they are a very high temp track pad, but I've used them with both R compound track tires as well as high performance street tires and they work great even on the street; they are also very rotor friendly compared to other high performance pads. If you never track the car and don't need very high temp fade resistance, the XP8's would do the trick.
