I really want to work in Motorsports
So I'm a sucker for Motorsports. I'm in a ProjectManagement program. I really want to combine the two by getting an internship with a motorsports team of some sort. Any ideas. I've obviously started researching contact names and numbers for the big teams in F1 and WRC, which are where my interests lie. But I'd like to hear your suggestions, if you have any. How would you go about getting yout foot in the door in one of the most closed societies around? The nature of my education, its not worldrenowned because its so small, is such that I need voice contact or even better, eye-contact, to get my point across. Its not like I have a Ph.D i aerodynamic engineering or anything, that could get me in the door.

Well, as Carol Smith once said, less than .1% of race teams make money. Almost all teams are funded by the driver, family and crew.
Set that aside, you need to work your way up through the ranks. Best way, do some time for a SCCA Club Race team or Club Rally team. You probley won't get paid but it will get you into the events. |
tip #1, get a truck license. This is definitely a bonus.
Make it clear that you are not a 9 to 5 worker. Get to know someone inside...play golf (you will meet lotsa people), be at your local races. You won't get hired right away in F1, WRC not sure... |
