Help me put a value on this....

A client of mine wants me to get rid of this old truck...a 53/54 Chevy stake side dump truck. It was running fine ten years ago whe it was parked!

damn that's a beautiful hedge on the right of the truck!

I love old trucks but I don't have much sense of their true value; that one is/was basically quite heavy duty so considering the reasonable condition of the cab and other visible parts, I'd expect the frame to be in quite good condition; motor would have to be babied back to life. I asked a couple truck guys in my office who suggested what to me sounds "low ball" ...$500 to $1000 U.S.D. I would have guessed about twice that much.

I'm thinking 1500-2000 $$. Would bring more if was a half ton but there are still folks that like the old big trucks as well. You could probably spend a hundred or so and get it running. It would sure sell faster and bring more $$ if they could hear it run.

I would say about 2 grand to the right person. But thats just a guess really need to see better pictures of stuff thats effected by age. Like the frame/suspension floorboards. Stuff that could rust out easy. Dosnt look like its been anywhere that they salt the roads but grass and stuff growing up under it can do a lot of damage to the underside holding moisture against it. Really should put a little effort into getting it running. If someone could drive it away or at least onto a trailer or something they would be a lot happier about buying it. And it might sound kinda silly considering the paint isnt in the best shape but a hour or so spent washing the hell out of it then waxing it makes a big difference. little polish and it could shine and give people a real idea of what it would look like if some work was put into it.

alarm bells! mechanics own the worst cars.

a lot would depend on body and mechanical condition. after 10 years there´s a really good chance the engine is seized but it *could* work. all the rubber is perished beyond a shadow of a doubt so it would all need replacing. rust may be an issue depending on environment, type of car and the car itself. it´s pretty much impossible to put a value on something without seeing it.
