Old School Toyota Club of Bridgeport, CT Car Show
Highlights from the show: The entire album (all 198 pictures) can be seen here. High res versions available in .zip files are uploading and will be posted soon. And guess who I met? The great Ben Hsu, publisher of Japanese Nostalgic Car magazine and website. Lemme tell you something about this man. He's a really cool dude. He was there looking at vehicles and trying to see which ones he can get a chance to do a write up on. I was so starstruck I forgot to ask if he could take a picture with me. He did give me a JNC sticker, though which will be going on the Corolla when it's done.

Cameron originally envisioned the Terminator as a small, unremarkable man, giving it the ability to blend in more easily. As a result, his first choice for the part was Lance Henriksen. O. J. Simpson was on the shortlist but Cameron did not think that such a nice guy could be a ruthless killer. -From the Collector's Edition DVD of The Terminator |

my 1st car was the same as the corolla in the 1st pic on the right. 2 speed auto 1166cc engine. downhill with a tailwind it was good for 110km/h (70mpg) but was revving at 5k so needed rest breaks...

LOL at the Scarface car, only in Bridgeport.
I want to know where half of these guys are finding these cars. I looked for ages for early yotas and Datsun 510's, and in the event that I found one that WASN'T in California, it was laying in pieces, rusty, and some schmoe was asking at least $2500 for the pile of parts.

not many toy's....memories....mine was white and new(1969) 510 2-door
this was taken about 1 hour after I picked it up ! summer,1969! It still had the clear plastic on the door panels . I was on my way to the tire shop and took the white walls off and put on Pirelli P-77"s... xoxoxoo

Very nice, thanks for sharing your old school enthusiasm. Damn, it reminds me...I really really need a Datsun 2000 real soon.
In 1971 I ever so briefly "almost" owned a brand new Datsun 240Z, white with red interior... ...I ordered it and when it arrived at the dealer after the obligatory 4 month wait and before ever driving it, I sold my place in line/rights to it for $100 and bought my beloved '67 E-type Roadster instead....that was not very JDM of me but I'm making up for it now. |
