I'm impressed with how well the driver protection systems work.

Score one for the HANS device.

Looking at the Earnhardt crash, and then back at this one, it's just amazing how much safer this new car is..........that is ridiculous.......

I think the HANS does a lot by itself.

not just the HANS, they had the impact absorbing wall there as well. Pretty impressive, though, especially at that speed.

Yup...186mph at the moment of impact, and almost dead head on. That he was uninjured is a miracle, let alone living.

Wow... I'm seriously impressed with the engineering of all those safety systems in place. Nascar obviously knew what they were doing when they implemented the COT.

Damn safety equipment, if you can crash like that and walk away then the risk appreciation of a nascar driver goes way down to the point that the pit crews are the real risk takers.

Regarding the CoT, considering they are using it now wouldn't the Car of Tomorrow (CoT) just be the "Car" or at best the "Car of Today".

wow I watched this video again, and the car actually bounces off the wall! there are some other vidz on youtube of the same crash with different angles and the car literally bounced off the wall because it was one of those shock-absorbent walls...........this says a lot about the constant safety measures that is put into this sport

.........except for when you
