One of the baddest engine swaps I've ever seen.
S13 chassis (240SX) + VH4DE (4.5L V8 from an Infiniti Q45)

The sound of that engine doesn't compute with the look of the car. Well done on the swap nonetheless, real sleeper.

OH MY GOD.
*waits patiently for someone to do a Cayenne turbo engine in a Boxster...* |
awesome swap. I'm surprised that that engine generates less than 300 HP and TQ. Still I love the concept.

There's three 240SX's (two S13's and an S14) in my local club with LS1's. Now THAT is a swap

Very cool. The S13 is a fun chassis and I haven't seen that swap yet, though popping in a domestic V8 seems somewhat common, usually an LS motor from GM.
I'm enjoying seeing more and more of what seems to be a more common trend, to cram an import V8 into a smaller than original import chassis ...reminds me of good old American hot rodding. I won't pollute this thread with more than this one off topic but related comment, one of the Supra guys is almost finished craming a twin turbo Lexus V8 into the MkIV (the last) Supra chassis, though it's also customized with a hand-made metal widebody ...we are all very excited to hear the results pretty soon; the motor looks like art work to me. |
I'm noticing that too. Youtube has videos of another VH45 engine swapped into a S14 chassis, and there's videos of a 1UZ-FE (4.0 from a Lexus) stuffed into an early 80's Supra.

Here's the 4.7L 2UZ motor after being totally built in and out and twin turbo'd, then in the engine bay, car still in process but close to completion

That is a beautiful engine, clean and mean. Fits good and tight in there too. And late model Corvette engines in 240sx's...wow.
It looks like these are drift cars then? Do these installs require a lot of modification? To the engine or to the car? Does it require any type of strengthening of the frame or suspension? Is it expensive? Looks like a lot of fun, bet these cars are a blast to drive. |
Nice concept, but some of the fab work makes me cry.

JDM rat-rod? ....j/k, no cut on some of the truly beautifully constructed rat rods around. |
Not a fan of that exhaust pipe, but considering the noises coming out of it...I'll let it pass.
That's just wicked. |
will pass everything on the road.....except a tire store!....swell hot rodding

Bad yes....baddest...ehhh. You should see the guy who swapped an LS2 into his miata!
|
There is always a "badder" contender, not to mention that IMO a bigger motor does not always make a badder car, balance is very important, and bad doesn't apply for me if all the car can do is go in a straight line.
A couple of local "old school" swaps, this guy shows up at local car meets with his 427 MG: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...KGMay06020.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...KGMay06021.jpg And this one with a 427 Austin Healey 3000: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...KGMay06001.jpg |
Wow, Badnick, that is some hot British muscle, probably doesn't break down as much either.
|
llow, I'll have to ask those guys if they are still using Lucas electrics ;)
