Corvette ZR1 Unleashed!
How many of you love the Corvette? How many of you love comparing its numbers to the exotics? Ever since I was little the Vette has always been my favorite sports car. While the C4 never did anything for me I absolutely loved the C3 stingray and the C5, when the whole concept of the Z06 came out I almost shit my pants. I have dreamed of owning one my whole life and some day hope to. Now, check out this bad boy!

From what they are saying it has a better weight to power ratio than some Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. I bet you this package is gonna come in at $120,000 or less. For a car that will destroy $200,000 cars and IMO looks 10x nicer this is a pretty sweet deal. The only problem I have with it is the chosen name, I think ZR1 sounds a little weak and generic. What do you all think of corvettes, and most notably the ZR1 |
OH MY GOD!!! That's FUCKING INCREDIBLE!
|
Yea, I put this car as costing slightly more than the Viper. And the current Z06 beats the Viper. And the ZR1 is supposed to mop the floor with the Z06... low 3's for the 0-60 time. DAMN!!!
|
I'm going to start saving. $$$$
|
That's not a car, gentlemen... that's a spaceship without wings.
*COVET* |

Says you. Just wait and see. When they officially release this baby it just might have fold out wings. |
Not my cup of tea, I'd take the Ferrari or the Lambo over this regardless if it's faster or not.
|
This is awesome.
Now I'm even more anxious to see how the new 2008 Nissan GT-R is going to perform in "real life" This is the main deal: This Corvette ZR1 is probably going to cost much, much more than the Z06. But, look at what $66,500 (base model) can get you from Nissan: * Top speed: (193 mph) * Acceleration: (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds * Standing 1/4-mile: 11.6 s at (118 mph) These figures have been confirmed by Edmunds.com, and they say the 0-62 MPH may be quicker in better road conditions....... For $66,500. I'm a huuuuge fan of domestic cars, but jesus, watch out guys - Nissan might have a real winner here!!!!!! |
That's almost a threadjack there Redjake.
|
If you think you're only going to pay MSRP for a GT-R you're dead wrong (MARKUP).
Looks like GM is finally using something other than Tupperware for their interiors. |
that new Vette is going to be a beast. i may take a trip to the local Chevy dealer just to get a look at one. it'd be my best chance to actually see one. around here, one of those would be parked in a garage for about 10 months of the year.
|
I really like it, although there's a good chance that it will not only be the first vette to 200 mph, but also to $100,000 sticker price. Still a quarter or half of what most of those exotics are.
Redjake, as others have mentioned, that Nissan will be close to the vette's price when it is all said and done, although it is a great car. |
Sort of like the ZO6 bringing back my memories of the original ZO6 of 1963, the ZR1 name to me conjures up the last ZR1 that Chevy developed back in the early '90s which I really liked and coveted back then ...so I'm ready to covet all over again, but this time even way more.
I didn't see it in any link above but did you see it on a racetrack ...fast as all hell! http://www.dpccars.com/car-videos-08...-racetrack.htm |
Yes I have been reading about the GT-R as well. That car is going to be a beast! But nothing will take me from my love of Corvettes
The thing that I love most about Vettes is the fact that I have a realistic chance of owning one in my life, now I doubt I would ever be able to afford the ZR1 but a Z06 would probably be feasible for me sometime in the near future... that is unless I get married and have kids. So its either a wife and kids or a vette! haha. And I think that nice interior package started being offered on the Corvette either last year or the year before. You can bet your ass I would be getting that option. Makes the interior look amazing. |
That is fucking sexy.
|
MMMMMM, daddy likey... *drools*
|
That looks pretty good, even for a Chevy.
It's too bad though, whenever I see a Corvette it's being driven by a gray-haired 60 year old in the right hand lane. |
I doubt this one will be. This thing looks incredible. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this thing. I'm wondering what the CTS-V will do with that same engine. Should be very, very fun.

Dammit Redjake!! I'm gonna kick your ass!
Just kidding. As long as you keep talking about kick ass cars its all good. No posting any little crappy cars like the vespa or something. That CTS-V looks freaking bad ass. The interior looks absolutely amazing. But I still want the Vette more. |
Even though it's more powerful than previous models and has a ZR1 after it's name it's still a Corvette. Not much different from others that I see everyday. If I wanted to get looks, I'd spend $100 grand elsewhere, such as Aston Martin Vantage or a used Gallardo.
|
^ I don't know why somebody whose s/n abbreviates to "LS" would say such a thing? ;) ...I hear people say that about the current ZO6, too; but whenever I see a ZO6, or when I'll see a ZR1, I really check it out and it jumps out at me; but I think the average non-car type person sees these as just another vette.
|
I think the ZR1 is going to give the same impression/shock factor of a Lambo or Ferrari once I see one in real life........those pictures are just sick; that's a significant change from the Z06
|
Having driven a Z06 a couple of times, I can't imagine what this car will be like. Its nearly impossible to use the Z06 to its fullest. I like that the Z06 doesn't look all the different than a stock Vette. The ZR1 kind of strikes me a little over the top (for a Vette) however I'm sure I'd get used to it. Especially if it were in my garage.
Its really great to see an American manu bring out a high performance supercar. |

I agree LoganSnake, 100K would be far better spent on an Aston and people would actually turn their heads when you drive by. |

^ I agree with your point. It always surprises me how often "what other people think" comes up in discussions about cars ...seems so insecure.
|
I'm a driver, and I wouldn't envy the driver of this car, but that may just be me. Astons look like Jags? Seriously.
So people who don't appreciate this car are now 'average non car type person' or just 'regular people'? Who knew all these years I thought I was a car guy and come to find out I have to appreciate this Vette to be one, oh well, juts call me a non car type then, or just a regular person Quote:

I guess those cars are cool if you're police detective Lt. Columbo.
|
Cool is in the eye of the beholder, which is why some people seem to think this Vette is cool. Finding this Vette uncool or not as great as the majority doesn't make anyone an average non-car type person , or a regular person who knows nothing about Vettes or this particular model. Just means they have different taste, but no surprises here really, if someone is against the majority here they must be an average non car type person.

Switch to decalf? I always enjoy how people say that here, like they're talking to someone who's pissed or excited about a post, when they really have no idea the emotions or lack there of behind someones post. I'll just leave the thread, and next time before assuming that someone is angry or excited when they post make sure.
I never said you shouldn't stick by thinking Jags and Aston's look the same I merely said 'are you serious'? I have no issue telling them apart, but I guess some do, to each his own, much like this Vette, you like it, I don't, to each his own. |

Come on, guys, it's just a machine. Jeez. A very expensive machine. |
Well I know lots of people don't like vettes, but I sure as hell do. I would rather look and drool over a corvette than a Ferrari. I would take a Vette over a ferrari or a porch or a new lambo any day.
I love the old Countach and the Diablo, but I can't stand the look of the new ones. and the performance on new ones is pretty sub-par for the sticker price. To each there own I suppose. |
Well I'd take a new Vette over a porch as well, only things to do on a porch are sit and drink, maybe smoke some weed. haha, I know, I know, Porsche.
I like Vettes don't get me wrong, I'm just more of a classic Vette fan than the new Vettes. Drooling over a Vette is something I'd never do, unless women were performing unspeakable acts on each other on the hood, then the drool would flow. Yep to each their own, I'm just making people try and see that just because someone doesn't like this Vette doesn't mean that they are average people who think cars are cars, or an average non car type person, we just have different tastes, different cars get us going, the Ascari makes me nurse a semi everytime I see it, as does the GT-R: http://www.gumball-3000.com/rally/up.../ascarikz1.jpg You think these cars look alike? First is the Aston: http://i22.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/ce/b9/4078_1.JPG Jag: http://photos.ebizautos.com/5197/2468451_1.jpg Oh well, to each his own, once again, and not liking this Vette makes us regular people(not that its a bad thing) or average non car type. Oh well, as I said before, I'm done with this nthread, I'll go back to nonsense where people are allowed to have different likes and tastes. |
